  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Been watching them a bit in pre season.
Tonight was the first night they had their full squad playing minus Winslow.
Health is obviously key for these guys, and their three point shooting seems slightly iffy at the moment, but they are very deep almost like an older version of our team with two aging/declining All Stars in Bosh and Wade (maybe 3 with Whiteside).
Arguably they don't have a top 10 player but if they stay healthy they'll be pretty tough.
Anyway, looking at how we may have to construct a roster to contend without a top 10 or 'superstar' player, these guys have done a really good job creating depth whilst re tooling.
I think Stevens could take a squad like this to 7 games and even beat the Cavs 3 or 4 times out of ten.
Starters
Dragic
Wade
Deng
Bosh
Whiteside

Bench
Haslem
McRoberts
Gerald Green
Chalmers
Winslow
Chris Anderson
Nick Johnson
Stoudemire

Thoughts?
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

theyve got talent
health is a key issue with older guys like wade, stoudemire and deng

winslow's development as he could easily see playing time at the 2 and 3, and can be used if wade or deng goes down

the most important issue i see is fit
this roster is drastically different from the last 2 seasons
a lot of players like bosh, wade, deng, winslow, green, stoudemire - havent played with each other much so they will need to develop their chemistry as the season progresses

with that said, i dont think stevens would take them to the finals as they have so many question marks

I think he could probably take it to the ECF

Can't see that team beating a healthy Cavs team and don't think Stevens is appreciably better (if at all) than Spoel as a coach anyway.
