People use the excuse that our rookies haven't played against top competition, but it's not like Bradley, Turner, etc have looked any better against these so called "d league" teams.

I'm confident that Rozier's minutes will increase throughout the season and it'll be based on his play. With Stevens it's always been based on play and never on seniority or experience. (two things I think have been way overrated).

honestly, i like our rookies. I think Hunter, Mickey, and Rozier can all play and I'm particularly entertained by Rozier.

Realistically though, I just don't see any of them getting much minutes. It's not a knock on them but it's more because of we're so deep. Out of the 3 though, Hunter has the highest chances of seeing minutes since we have the least depth at SG. But again, ET can slide over to the 2 while Jae or Jerebko plays the 3. So I don't know.

I hadn't picked him before Danny did, but I've been at least on his bandwagon, if not steering it, pretty much since then. There is nothing in skill, physical ability, or mindset to keep him from becoming a major star. I think he'll ultimately prove to be Danny's best drafting yet.

He's shown flashes of potential but he's not very smooth yet. It will be interesting to see if Stevens is willing to put someone as unpolished as this kid in the rotation. He probably needs minutes but we have players who are way ahead of him. And then we may have another 3 first round rookies next year. Ainge is definitely putting Stevens into a position to make some tough decisions.

I was really impressed by watching Marcus Banks when he was a rookie as he looked great in the summer league. He was a fast a Rozier and would blow by people.

Lets all hope Rozier doesn't turn out like Banks.

Rozier can shoot threes, but he isn't a skilled shooter. We'll see if it can translate to the NBA.

It preseason but right now he is shooting  6 for 8, which is not shabby.

That is .75%, I do not expect him to maintain that, but if he can do half of that, then all will be well.

I have been impressed with all 3 of the Cs rookies. While I wasn't high on the Rozier pick on draft night it is now very clear what DA saw in him.

In the 3 preseason games vs NBA teams their stats are the following

Rozier: 20mpg 13pt 2.5rb 3.5ast 2stl

Hunter:23mpg   7pt 2.3rb 2.3ast 1.5stl

Mickey: 11mpg  5pt 3rb 1.3blk

Obviously these stats need to be taken with a major grain of salt given that they are typically accumulated at the end of games vs D-Leage/Fringe NBA talent. The thing I do take away from this is the fact that Rozier is scoring at a 26pt per 40 pace in the preseason compared to 19 per 40 in college. This shows that he is better suited for the pro game.

A major portion of this blog has been drooling over RJ Hunter and have predicted he would get rotational minutes and that Rozier would go to the NBDL. But I am with the OP. I think Rozier has been the standout rookie going all the way back to Summer League. He's been hitting his shots, something Hunter hasn't done, he has run the offense well, has made good passes and set up his team mates extremely well. And his defense has been very good.

I don't know if he gets rotational minutes unless there is an injury or a trade but I do see him sticking with the team and not heading down to Maine. I think you'll see a lot of Rozier in blowout games and games in which IT and Smart both get into foul trouble.

I've been saying it all along but nobody wants to give credit where it is due.

If he does it in the regular season consistently then we may have some ammo to make a move.

Rozier is capable of making basketball moves out there but he doesn't have the same poise or where abouts that RJ has. Maybe that's solved by getting him minutes to gain that experience but at this point in their rookie year, RJ is ahead of Rozier as far being NBA ready.

If Stevens gives Rozier minutes, its because of his potential.

Rozier showed great flashes, he seems to be our quickest most explosive player. He also looks like he can shoot a lot better than advertised. I'd love to see him in the second unit this year but if that happens it probably won't be until after the deadline.

I was really upset when we picked him, but I am changing my mind more ever time I see him play.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I mentioned in another thread that if Rozier plays well enough to gain more minutes, Turner, Smart and AB could be affected. I like the fact that we have a guy who, maybe not this season, could take over the ball handling, score points and fit with this team.

CBS has a few things to watch this season. Who does Rozier work best with? Who, from Smart, AB and Rozier goes (with IT here surely only two could stay).

It would be great if Rozier proved to be an NBA ready player. I expect it will take a season and the mix will sort itself out about All Star time. There is a lot to be positive about for the future.

Lets say Rozier makes slow but sure strides this year.  Assume all the guards approve as well (Smart, AB, RJ, IT).  In two years when a big star becomes available, I would offer IT as part of the package, not the younger, taller guys.  We depend on IT now.  I dream of a day when the rest of our offense is sound and IT (and his defensive challenges) become expendable.  With Trader Danny in the mix, I don't see IT playing out his contract here, and that could be a very good thing depending on who we get in return.  Ok, fire away.

I could see Ainge fast tracking the process, trading Smart/picks this year for a superstar.  If he's confident Rozier can be a 25mpg pg behind IT, might make sense.
