It appears (at least for this season) that Jae has overtaken DeMare Carrol as an NBA player for all intensive purposes.
His current season averages per 36 minutes numbers of
Jae Crowder
16.3 points 5.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists
Have overtaken DeMare Carrol's season per 36 minute stats of
13.1 points, 1.2 assists, 5.4 rebounds
Jae's shooting a career best 45.8% from the floor and 36% from three while Carrol is shooting 38.8% from the floor and 37.8% from the field.
They're playing roughly the same amount of minutes and taking roughly the same amount of shots. Crowder's killing him at the free throw line and is better from the field overall.
Much of Carrol's mini downturn could be related to a new team/system and first half season struggles. For all we know, Jae could be running hot and he'll come back down to the earth.
Ultimately Jae wins this battle because of his contract being literally 50% of DeMare's contract per year.
I honestly don't think anyone saw Jae's quick rise coming. We all thought he was going to get better, but personally I thought he'd be posting these kind of numbers in a season or two if they were going to happen. So glad he's proven me wrong and hope it's not a hot streak.
Go Danny.
