Summer league as we know it has only been around for a decade. Although there has always been unofficial games played, the level of competition and the coverage, not only by media, but scouts, coaches and GM's looking to mine talent has grown exponentially. Those who can't get excited about this season's crop probably tend to see more negative than positive in their lives. As the competition grows, so does the translation to the Pro game itself. We have 4 or 5 guys that will make it on a roster somewhere ( hopefully here) and that wasn't the case just 3 years ago. "It's only Summer League " will be a saying long forgotten  sooner than later. Just ask someone like Colton Iverson who came here looking to show what he's learned only to run back to Europe because he saw he had NO chance of competing or maybe last years darling James Young...

Just for a quick perspective of how much the competition has changed world wide.......
The Dream Team was only 23 years ago the rest of the world had barely produced a handful of international NBA players...( 21 to be exact)

This from 2011 :
