Well, looks like the Heat is getting much stronger again with Stoudemire, assisting DWade, Chris Bosh, and Goran Dragic for a run at a title.

The Eastern Conference thickens.

Dragic/Chalmers
Wade/{edit: Gerald Green}/Tyler Johnson
Deng/Winslow
Bosh/Amar'e
Whiteside/[Amar'e]/Andersen

Edit: forgot about Gerald Green

Strong looking team if healthy.

Gotta say Miami has had a quietly amazing off-season. Even if I think they overpaid to re-sign Goran Dragic, you gotta do what you can to retain your core. They may have given Wade too much money on his contract but it's only for a year. Next year they'll be trotting out a squad of

Starting 5
PG: Goran Dragic
SG: Dwyane Wade
SF: Luol Deng
PF: Chris Bosh
C: Hassan Whiteside
Bench:
Amare Stoudemire
Gerald Green
Justice Winslow
Mario Chalmers
Josh McRoberts
Chris Andersen

That is a deep team. Of course they are banking on Wade and Bosh to be healthy, but if all goes well, that's a viable #2 in the East. I think Dragic and Bosh on the pick roll will be super deadly this season and Justice Winslow could supplant Deng if he is as good as advertised. Remember that Atlanta lost Demarre Carroll and Washington lost Paul Pierce. Those subtractions hurt.

Though I'm not sure who i want to see win another championship less, Lebron or D-Wade. I'll give it to Lebron because I don't mind Bosh, but it's close.

Not to mention I'd love to see an ECF of friends-turned rivals with Cleveland vs. Miami, and that is definitely possible.

Chemistry is what counts....they got a lot of talent, let's see if they can play together.

Amare is toast.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

I like Bosh, one of my top 5 favorites. Hopefully he can lead the Heat team to take down LeBron James in the ECF if they ever meet.

That would be a fun ECF finals to watch:  Cavs Heat.  If both fully healthy it could go 7 if Whiteside is the real deal this season.

I hate the Heat (especially Wade), but even I'd admit, it'd be hilariously awesome if they beat the Cavs and their record-breaking payroll for the East.

I count four over-the-hill stars (Bosh, Wade, Amare and Deng) and four potential head cases (Whitehead, Green, Chalmers and Anderson) on the Heat roster.  That's a pretty impressive collection, if you ask me.

Bad signing. Amare is kaput.

Amare would be fine if Miami would keep him as a 3rd string C/PF and only use him sparingly but he is past the point where he is an asset as a regular rotation player ... which I have to assume is the purpose Miami have signed him for. Thus, Amare will only make Miami worse.

I think you're being overly harsh on Amare. Still a productive player to have in a limited role as you mentioned and regular rotation is more than fine for him. Still capable of producing at a very efficient manner for you and fully capable of having the occasional big game. His defense is questionable, but that's always been the case with him anyways... just a bit worse now.

I like it for Miami, I think he'll be more productive than given credit for here, as he was last year.

Miami's squad looks good on paper but how many games before Stoudemire and Wade fall apart at  the hinges? If Miami can stay healthy they should be able to contend in the East. Get the refs from the 2006 NBA Finals and Wade will probably get another ring.
