I personally feel this draft is it. But many still trust him. What would he have to do - or not do - over what period, for you to think he should be fired?

Resign Brandon Bass, at least to anything resembling the contract he got last time.

Danny has earned my respect so not a whole lot.  I trust him.  Do you on the other hand really feel trading 6 picks to move up 7 slots was a good idea?

If the Nets make the playoffs next year and we are the 7th seed again and dont make any trades.

I'm with him, he has earned my respect, so I trust him. It's not his fault if he puts an offer out but players/GMs don't want to take it

so I guess, if he doesn't try, then I'd fire him...he makes bold moves, he's not perfect. He'll succeed in some, and fail in some

Be as impatient or as short sighted as some of the posters here, would certainly get him fired.   There is a reason he is a successful GM in the NBA who was won a title and your not.  I think he has a free reign for a long while.  Most of his moves make the team better or set us up for other moves.  I do however, think he is a victim of his own success and other teams fear dealing with him.

Fast forward three years and the Celts are still in more or less the same position as they are now.

He does much more right than wrong. IMO

But, if he signs Rondo again, for any price, he should be fired.

Something like the Dougie Hamilton trade (although the Bruins shouldn't fire Sweeney because they should try to have a GM stick around for more than 2 weeks).

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
This draft (and the six picks he offered for Charlotte's pick) aside, Danny needs to start taking some more chances. I get it, he is all about value. It's hard to look back at any deals he's made and think, 'wow, we really got hosed on that one,' but I am starting to get a little impatient. Sometimes you need to get a little ripped off to acquire a player or players you really covet.

I am not saying we ever really had a chance at Curry or Cousins/Evans a few years ago, but if reports of Rondo being a centerpiece of a deal (plus other assets) for those guys were true and Danny didn't pull the trigger, then he obviously made a mistake.

I think it's getting time to pick a direction, not just continuing to acquire 'assets.' That being said, I am in no hurry to move on from Danny as gms are generally pretty mediocre and Danny is at least above average.
