I'm not forgetting the rim protector. Hopefully someone comes out of the shadows this year and becomes a draft prospect. Maybe Thomas Bryant incoming freshman on Indiana.

Its time to really rebuild. Rip the bandaid off.

Given the above I'm thinking Jerebko is a swing and he also was very high on real +/- for the C's this reason.

Anyone knows if we will make an offer?
To me Jerebko fits the modern NBA perfectly. Two-way player, only 3s and layups on offense, switches 3-5 on D. If we are unable to land Harris and we have a roster spot, I hope we sign him over Bass.

He is unrestricted, however, and I think he can do better and find more playing time somewhere else. Too much players of his caliber on our roster right now.

Agreed.

Jerebko has sneakily good value.

He can defend, basically, all positions and isn't a liability on offense. If given the opportunity could be incredibly productive.

Him and Crowder I hope we keep. But I don't know what to do with minutes.

Mikey can be our rim protector. Don't be mislead by his height. Check his stats, his wing span and vertical reach. He's super athletic and fast. A bit like a young ibaka.

An option only if we fail to sign Harris or better, but I really like Jonathan Holmes (undrafted SF/PF guy). Givony called him "the most underrated guy in the draft" a couple of days before the draft.

Considering that we have 6-7 picks next year, locking a role player to a long-term contract might be unwise. We might be better off giving Holmes the Pressey contract - team options forever.
"We do so many defensive drills in practice, I come home and I'm putting the press on my woman, denying her the ball.
Y'all are laughing, but it's sad. I go home and deny the wing."

That's an interesting suggestion but IMO we are looking for a player able to contribute 15+ mpg.

Here's what Stevens said recently:

"Obviously everyone starts with 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s and 5s when they look at a basketball team," Stevens said. "I look at ball-handlers, wings, swings and bigs. I only have four categories. The more guys that can play the more positions, the better. Right now I think if you look at the roster, I think we have three of the four categories with a lot of depth. And I think that swing area where you can go 3-4 and play that way, that's the area we're going to have to address as we move into the next few weeks and look at our team."

So our rotation now is

BH: Turner, Thomas, Rozier
Wing: Smart, Bradley, Young, Hunter
Swing: Crowder, Mickey
B: Zeller, Sully, Kelly

I assume that Bass is unlikely to re-sign and Wallace will get very little if any playing time.
It's obvious we lack depth at the 'swing', hence the interest in a player like Tobias Harris.

PS: Turner, Smart and Crowder have the advantage of being able to move between positions which is clearly a big plus for Stevens.

Welcome to modern nba. This has been in place since Miami acquire Lebron James (and probably before by less successful teams). No real PG, no real Center.
Swing position look like the new gem of nba.
One thing we start to realize is that slow dominant bigs will start to have lesser and lesser value. Let's see what will happen with Hibbert.
Looking forward to watch this very exciting Celtics team with their new players. Hopefully we grab 2 good FA, but if you don't, I honestly feel very good about this roster. They will be fun to watch.

I feel good about this team too. Plenty of depth and good young players.

You know there is a lot of serviceable centers available in free agency. I'd say some would be willing to take the mle.

I might start with Tyson Chandler.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

I meant getting a legit big man that we can have for a championship run. I've said before that I don't like our chances being middle of the pack. I know I am repeating myself but trading ET, AB, and IT for a prospect or assets will help us clear the team of guys that get us meaningless wins AND could help us develop a prospect.

The 2016 and 2017 NBA mock drafts will be updated and out soon. 2017 is better IMO and has more diversity is its top prospects. 2016 is full of 3's and 4's. Thats what I have been looking into and hope we are in the top of those drafts.

Interesting. And I do like Robin Lopez as well. But these guys won't come cheap.

Tier 1
Draymond Green - not happening
Tobias Harris - Developing scorer with great size, but analytics don't love him (RPM)
Demarre Carroll - Analytics love him ... great in a pace and space system ... already 28
Thaddeus Young - offensively gifted ... his teams are always losers ... will want big contract

Tier 2
Jae Crowder - he's ours ... good energy ... inefficient ... possible cheap contract
Jonas Jerebko - he's ours ... great advanced defense stats ... provides needed rebounding
Al-Farouq Aminu - great athlete and size ... not a floor stretcher
Luc Richard Mbouh a Moute - solid veteran ... very versatile defender ... better 3% last year
Derrick Williams - worth an Evan Turner contract? ... athletic ... good shooter

Tier 3
Chris Copeland - underrated matchup nightmare good rim protector ... Indy's probably keeping
Shawn Williams - stretch shooter ... poor defensive IQ
Jeremy Evans - top 5 athlete in the NBA ... skinny ... not an outside threat ... great advanced stats

In the end, I'd love to get Harris, Crowder (or Jerebko), and Aminu. I know that we still need to make some trades, but by getting these guys, we would immediately become the most versatile team in the NBA.

Well, we could kill two birds with one stone by getting Thaddeus Young. We could get our swing player AND make sure the Nets picks stay in the lottery by signing him.

Wow. so our best bets are to go hard at Tobias Harris, and hope that we can also retain Crowder...

Well we still need a Center than can hold his own in the paint and rebound - Monroe would work.

Jerebko does fit the bill, I'd say good chance we resign him.

Fan of Crowder so hope he comes back, he brings a toughness that we lack from anyone taller than 6'4".

I guess Harris makes more and more sense, who knew? ;D

Are you a clairvoyant or something?

I have never liked the 1-2-3-4-5 terminology. I still believe the format used in fantasy leagues, is the most accurate. PG-G-SG-GF-SF-F-PF-FC-C . The swing positions are G=PG/SG, GF= SG/SF, F=SF/PF, FC= PF/C Wings would be G-SG-SF-F positions. bigs PF-C. Ball handlers PG-G Some players like Turner can cross extra lines G-SG-GF-SF. Its really all the same, but breaks out each individual ,to one or more positions of use.
