He won't accept it but what do you guys think it will take to keep him? Honestly I know little to nothing about these things but if he doesn't accept it does it make him restricted or would he only have been restricted if it was Dallas offering it? This is his rookie contract.

I have ZERO clue in what will be a market of overpayment what his price tag will be. I think it'll reach a point that I'm unwilling to pay for it, though it depends a lot on what free-agent, if any, we manage to acquire or what trades are made.

And Pierce just opted out.. Bad timing I guess.

He'll be back. He wants to come back, the FO wants him back, and the fans want him back.

Realistically, I don't think he's going to get anything outrageous. He's a nice player to have and probably better suited to be a guy coming off the bench. I believe he'll be back next season. He's also coming off a knee injury so that might affect his value as well.

Giving him a qualifying offer is what makes him restricted.  Not giving him a qualifying offer would make him unrestricted.  If he accepted the qualifying offer, that would make him a player under contract and not a free agent.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some team offer him the full MLE.

Thanks. If he gets a FMLE I don't see how we don't match it, isn't it like 5-6m? I doubt any team offers him it really early with all the big name FA out there they will be fighting for. Now, if they offer more, we'd probably say good luck and help him pack. We will see.

If we sign Harris, how much time is he really going to get? His number would have to be pretty reasonable to make it worthwhile for us. We still also have Turner depending upon what position you think he plays.

A team that only has the MLE to go after a free agent won't be in play for the big names and shouldn't hesitate if they really want Crowder.  They should try to sign him to an offer sheet early when the Celtics still want maximum cap space to chase after free agents.

Since there's the moratorium, when you can negotiate but not sign, it's unlikely the Celtics will be caught in limbo such that another team can get Crowder that way.  If he leaves, I think it's because Dallas opens the checkbook a bit further to bring him back there.
