For what it's worth, I do not doubt that Boston is willing to anything and everyone for a potential franchise big man... whether that's Towns, Okafor, Cousins, Noel, Embiid, etc... that's obviously a logical move for the team.   Whether or not anyone wants our assets is another story.  WE'll see what happens.

There's nothing surprising about the idea that Boston would trade a "godfather" package to get Okafor.  What would be surprising is if a team took Boston's "godfather" package.

This must mean embiid is gonna be fine if philly is even somewhat considering this.

Now you think Philly is considering it? Before it was "no chance" of that happening.

It doesn't.  The entire thing is contingent on the idea that the Lakers would take Russell 2nd... I don't believe that's realistic.

But yeah, I'd probably offer Smart + #16 + #28 + some of our other 1sts to get Okafor (or Embiid... or Noel)...  Doesn't mean Philly takes it.

My point was that if you're the type of person who would believe the plausibility of this nonsensical rumor, you also must believe that Embiid is fine.  Otherwise, why would Philly do this?  No point to trade a potential franchise big man for a defensive role player and middling picks.

Vivek and Karl want the Kings to be a fast paced run and gun team, so they may pass on Okafor if the rumored trade is completed.

So the Lakers would take Russell to trade him to the Kings?... in that scenario do the Kings start Ben McLemore or NiK Stauskas at center?

Maybe it's not Russell, but Porzingis or Mudiay with another trade for a center.

I think Hinkie is one of the few GMs that would totally appreciate the value of our future picks , especially the Nets picks. I think the Offer for Okafor would include those more than it would Smart.

I'm not sure I would classify Noel or Embiid as potential franchise players at this point. Okafor and Cousins I agree with though.

And apparently Okafor's agent has let Philly know to pass on him if he falls to them.

So that's a bit of a subplot developing.

When was the last time Danny drafted the player he was rumored to covet? Last year it was Aaron Gordon who was hyped up.

merge this with the other thread

and yes I do that trade.. anyone on this roster is expendable for Okafer.. he's that good.. he's a winner.. folks are getting enamored with shooters because of golden state.... having a legit big man is still the best path to a championship.

No. Remove Young and add a future 1st then MAYBE. Definately would give up Sully over Olynyk.

I understand why someone would think that about NOel since he might only develop into a transcendent defensive center... but  I honestly think Embiid is better than every prospect in this draft.   I give up Smart + #16 + #28 for either one of those guys without blinking.

Whatever it takes as long as we keep Bradley Smart and Thomas.  Picks are overrated and everyone else is expendable.  Okafor is a winner.  He could be a really special player in a few years.
