I know someone mentioned an excerpt of this article in a prior post but just wanted to share the link to the story

Should we try to acquire these two guys and would they improve our team?  I think Henson would be a big upgrade over Sully (more athletic at least.)

I'm struggling to visualize a world in which John Henson is an upgrade to Jared "Near Double Double for Two Straight Seasons at Age 21/22/23" Sullinger.

Henson is in far better shape than Sullinger who seems to break down every year because of his conditioning.

I'd gamble on Henson for Sully.

Player A

2013-14: 74 games, 27.6 mpg, .427/.269/.778, 13.3 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 1.6 apg, 0.7 bpg, 0.5 spg, 3.6 fouls/game. Age: 21/22

2014-15: 58 games, 27 mpg, .439/.283/.744, 13.3 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 2.3 apg, 0.7 bpg, 0.8 spg, 2.6 fouls/game. Age: 22/23

Player B

2013-14: 70 games, 26.5 mpg, .538/.000/.514, 11.1 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.5 bpg, 0.6 spg, 2.6 fouls/game. Age: 22/23

2014-15: 67 games, 18.3 mpg, .566/.000/.569, 7.0 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 0.9 apg, 2.0 bpg, 0.4 spg, 2.3 fouls/game. Age: 23/24

Player A is Jared Sullinger. Player B is John Henson. Considering there's nothing we know that would lead us to believe Sullinger is going to miss opening night, I'll take the risk on his back for the reward of a decidedly superior PF.

edit: FWIW, I'm a big fan of Henson. But he's a guy I'd like to see next to Sullinger, not in place of him.

I think Henson played for a great University, though :)

(Conflict of interest: I have absolutely no ties to UNC whatsoever. My obsession is tied to those early childhood years in which your parents tell you that you can achieve anything in the world, like play for UNC. But you CANNOT, and my children will be raised to learn a trade, mow the lawn, and root for UNC & Celts).

Apparently teams and GMs consider Michael Carter Willaims a fraud rookie of the year.  A lot of people killed Philly for not hanging onto him, maybe they were onto something.  Despite winning rookie of the year, I've never been overly impressed with MCW.  I suppose I don't want truly enough of him to really get a feel, but whenever I've seen him play, he hasn't jumped off the page for me.  At least not for what a player with "rookie of the year" attached to their name would be.

Last 10 rookie of the years before him:
1. Damian Lillard
2. Kyrie Irving
3. Blake Griffin
4. Tyreke Evans
5. Derrick Rose
6. Kevin Durant
7. Brandon Roy
8. Chris Paul
9. Emeka Okafor
10. Lebron James

Taking injury-riddled out of it, just based on pure talent alone, 8 out of the 10 turned into superstars...a piece you KNOW can be a part of a championship.  Really Emeka Okafor, and probably Tyreke Evans, although Evans had a pretty solid comeback year this year in New Orleans, were the only two that never lived up for at least a period of time as a superstar.  Now add MCW to that list.

His defensive potential has always been talked about, but he hasn't lived up to it. Looks like he can keep up with guys, has great length.. but something is holding him back on that end. I'm sure many expected he could improve his shot, too, but he hasn't.

Worrying to see Milwaukee willing to give up on MCW so soon after acquiring him. Bad sign.

I mean if you can't stick with a team that's trying to lose games why would you expect to stick with a team that's trying to win them?

It is worth noting, though, that Milwaukee also gave up on Brandon Knight pretty fast, too, and he's turned into a rotation-caliber player.

Knight was actually having a great season when he was traded, I think there was some all-star talk. Pretty sure they thought they were getting a slight upside potential upgrade.

Point well-taken, but do not trust a man with "tricky" in his name. Learned that the hard way.

Just another attempt to package a bunch of OK but not great guys for someone with more star potential. I would be surprised if there are any biters.
