I'd imagine that if Danny is able to pull off a trade, we'll see tons of tears from people complaining that he gave up too much. Because, somehow, you're supposed to just be able to lowball a team for a prime lottery pick.

Boston has discussed a trade with at least one top-ten team. Described by a rival exec as "aggressive, one of the few teams thinking big."

Hmm, just realized this may have been better suited for the Celtics Talk forum. Mods, feel free to move this, if you so choose.

target Stanley Johnson ;D

Smart/Johnson would be quite the defensive duo, with good offensive potential as well

Johnson can also defend in the post, only giving up 8 pts in 19 possesions.  He says he can guard 1-4, now that is the versatility Brad Stevens was talking about. Plus shot 37% from 3 his freshmen year, so fits in Brad's offense as well.

key word here for me is "few" Youve heard a lot about teams looking to trade out/get established talent. If there are only a few looking to trade up then we could have a little more leverage.

I like Johnson, but I actually would take Winslow or Hezonja over him honestly.

His terrible form of a jumper, and low release point is what really scares me.

All depends if we do get in the top 10, who's left? If we can get WCS or Johnson at pick 9, I'd give up all our pics this year and a player. I'd be very hesitant to trade that Brooklyn pick or our pick next year.

How about being aggressive for Boogie Cousins?  Empty out the coffers, Danny.  8)

I want the celtics to aim for Porzingis, AKA the Tall Euro. We need a star. Obviously, the only way to get him would be to trade with the Knicks. If we can get to four, we have the option of choosing between Muidiay and the Tall Euro.

Celtics get: #4 overall pick

Knicks receive: Bradley, Sullinger, #16, and our first round pick next year, plus the dallas pick.

I don't like him. I think he will be a future role player.

Does "thinking big" entail New York's pick? Or is talk with Detroit, Charlotte, and Miami still "big" talk? Perhaps he's offering up AB to Charlotte and Miami and Sully to Detroit. Would that be considered aggressive?

I personally don't think trading up to 4 is worth it given who is there and our most pressing needs.

Count me as part of the Stanley Johnson fan club.

His floor is a starter.

Sounds like doing that would require competing with a package centered around the #2 pick.

Celts can't hope to do that.

Absolutely this.

Why would we need an athletic wing when we vcan just resign Jae Crowder? I also heard from Chad Ford on the ESPN NBA Podcast that he was disappointed in Johnson athletically, as he was not the athlete everyone thought he will be coming out if high school.

If Danny will move the picks for the earlier pick, target top 6. Be in position for Winslow, Hezonja or even Mudiay. Otherwise, use it for Boogie.

...and Smart (since LA is rumored to also be willing to give up Randle)...ughhh, not much we can do to compete here.

Nothing personal, but I would consider this a nightmare. I was hoping for something like all of our picks this year for the #9, not the best players on our team and three decent firsts for a pick I do not think will be any better than the #9. Typically, the #4 is definitely a better pick, but I would almost rather take who is left of that top group than be forced to make a decision.
