Playing along with this game, I'd go with Winslow.    I don't know squat on Mudiay & think there is quite a bit of hype machine going on with Russell right now.

Like LarBrd33, I'm not big on WCS & certainly not taking him at #4.

If the Celtics want Winslow, why not just trade for a lesser pick (6 or 7) and take him there, saving assets in the process?

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

If we can shed a contract say AB and get up there than i am all for it. Would probably have to get a 3rd team involved but would be very happy to get up to 4.

Trade them IT, Sullinger, #16, and one of the Brooklyn picks for Calderon and #4.

Draft whichever of Mudiay, Russell, or Okafor is still on the board.

Run away, cackling with glee.

No offense, but in my opinion, that's an absolutely terrible trade.  No way in hell would I do that.

What will get it done is

2015- 16, 33rd
2016- 1st and 2nd round pick

For the 4th (unless towns, okafor or russell are avail then knicks keep the pick)

The celtics are like the only team that the knicks can work with. 76ers have all kinds of 2nd round picks and thats it. Rockets have 18 , 32 and could provide a future 1st or terrence jones kind of package too if they really want the 4th.
Rockets like Jones and dont think they will trade him though

Celts are in the driver seat for the 4th unless Phil asks for too much

I would draft Porzingis and then sign Greg Monroe.  Porzingis gives you the stretch four and rim protection that would be the perfect balance for Monroe's low post game. Once Sully/KO and Zeller are coming off the bench as role players, then we really start to compete.

I don't understand this rumor. Carmelo Anthony is 31 years old and one-year into a five-year $124 million contract (although he can opt-out a year early). Phil Jackson will be 70 years old before the start of next season. I don't see the NYK trading #4 for a quantity of middling picks this year and next.

Nevertheless, if the Celtics traded for #4, I hope the first thing they would try to do is package it, along with other assets, for DMC. If not, I like Winslow.

Do you have a guarantee if he is going to be there?

No doubt Okafor, Russel, and towns re gone top 3..

My 2 cents is either the more ready Winslow or IMO the best prospect in the draft Hezonja...

You just listed two reasons why they pull the trade. They dont have alot of time to waste like the dreaded 76ers. Melo was probably promised by phil and derek before signing that asap they will build a contending team.

Unfortunately the 4th pick alone plus melo wont help them get anywhere. Better chance to help the team move fwd with drafting Lyles at 16(who phil really likes) and Delon Wright at 28. They also like Joseph Young.

The Celts are in a diff position. They lack a superstar but have alot of the rest taken cared of. Porzingis for example could help the team get over the hump.

It could be a benefical trade for both teams

If we do this trade, it is for Porzingis. He's going to be a legit superstar who fits into CBS's system of versatile, skilled players.

If I were the Knicks I'd rather trade the #4 pick for Lawson and the # 7 pick.  Grab Johnson, Winslow, Hezonja or WCS and then sign one of the bigs  or Harris.

we're gonna need to trade a lot of people for that #4 pick...bad front office, but Phil is not idiot in my opinion.

but say we do get it, I want Winslow

Okafor will be gone by 4. If we're trading up it's either for Winslow, Johnson, or WCS.

If we're going for sf and c this off season, which would you rather have?

Draft Winslow/Johnson and sign a Robin Lopez or
Draft WCS and re-sign Crowder.

Wislow and WCS will need more assets to get but otherwise the first choice is far superior but also more risky. The second choice will likely have no surprises, get what you pay for.
I was thinking along similar lines when I saw your interesting post. My preference at 4 would be one of Hezonja, Winslow, or WCS. I'm leaning towards the small forwards because it will be easier to sign a veteran rim defender like Asik, Biyombo, or Koufos than to draft WCS and find a good two way 3. I think guys like Butler, Middleton, Leonard, and Green are either staying put or going to LA. I have no problem giving up all our picks this year plus a future pick or two to get a potential star. Too many posters want to draft 4 guys this year, like we are building an NFL team.

Justice Winslow - sounds like a celtic name. Swing the deal if hes available and they are willing to take this year 1st, and BKN's first next year, and either that Minny pick or the Dallas pick

Mudiay could be really good though, but point guards don't seem to win you championships unless they are all-round mature savvy guys (which is 5 years away at least) or lights-out shooters (shooting 34% from beyond scares me).

I'm in the trade-down-and-try-for-next-year camp. It's getting harder to win and that Dallas team that won with DeShawn Stevenson will NEVER happen again.

I'd love it if we could pull that trade off.  I'd take Kristaps instead of any of those guys, though.
