If Minnesota draft him 1st overall, I have a message to Glen Taylor.

Mr. Taylor:

If Flip Saunders decides to draft Emmanuel Mudiay 1st overall over Karl Towns or Jahlil Okafor, and you fire him, just keep in mind that there are 30 GM candidates who will be qualified to take the spot. That would NOT EVEN CONSIDER doing such a stupid thing like that.

Trust me, all of them are better than David Kahn.

Sincerely,

A concerned NBA fan.

I don't think Flip is getting enough credit for how he handled the KLove situation.

Oh no, he got major props for that. But that could go down the drain if he thinks Mudiay is the #1 overall pick.

I sense posturing. This reeks of Danny Ainge saying we were interested in Austin Rivers to ensure NO took him at 11. Maybe a favor to Mudiay's agent or simple smoke screen. When is it ever a good idea to let your competition know what your really thinking?

If they take Mudiay I'll eat my hat.

I mean, the last two superstar big men they've drafted have left them in the lurch, why not just skip the heartache?

The Wolves' front office is stupid so anything can happen!

I really hope they draft Karl Towns so the Lakers can get the least powerful big man that is left. I'd be surprised if the Lakers don't roll with the leftover big man and go with Russell.

Mudiay #1, Russell #2 to Lakers, and the 76rs have to draft a big man again. Lol
Not sure why you are laughing.  I'd love to have the problem of deciding between Okafor and Towns to go with Noel and Embiid.  Towns would probably make the most sense.  They can develop them next season.  If all three look good, they decide which two to keep and trade the third for a nice haul.

I took that with a grain of salt when I saw it, but Dieng is a pretty nice young player and they have a couple pf prospects (Bennett and Payne) who I honestly still think have potential.   If they did such an insane thing, it probably would mean selecting Townes #1 and then trading down with the Knicks... that's my guess at least.  If I'm the knicks, I gladly give up #4 and additional assets to get Townes.

What would Knicks give up in addition to #4 to get #1 in this scenario?
They also have Ricky Rubio and Z Levine
Read a rumor they were trying to trade Rubio.

Just saying, if they are actually crazy enough to pass on the bigs to take Mudiay, they should at least get something out of it.  Take Townes, and then make the Knicks bend over.

If I'm the Knicks in that situation, I cash in Melo for a buttload of picks and prospects from a desperate team like the Celtics (Something like Wallace + Smart + Bradley + Sully + Oly + #16 + #28 for Melo) ... Just as an example... if Boston thinks landing Melo will help them lure another star like Kevin Love, it makes some sense for them to go all-in for a guy like Melo (similiar to when they landed Ray Allen as a precursor to Garnett)... then with New York's newfound assets they can offer #4 + a couple of the Boston chips to get up to #1.    Gives the Knicks a nice young foundation and a franchise building block in Townes.  They can go all-in on the youth thing.  Minny gets their guy (in this insane hypothetical where they want Mudiay at #1),  Knicks get their franchise building block in Townes... Boston gets a star to attract a second star in free agency.

Lol... yeah, probably not.

KILL ME NOW!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Could be laughing bc some people think that makes one of those bigs available to us if the did pick another 1.

I'd love to get their castoff big but its going to cost us picks.  The Sixers are already probably going to have 4 1st in 2016.  If they get a couple more, they can draft 20% of the 1st round.

I think Mudiay should get some consideration at #1. He has a chance to be special. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being the best player in this draft.

Towns is too hard to pass up on though. So much size and talent. I love centers.

One could also say that every point guard they've ever taken has been a disappointment, including Rubio, who's a good player but certainly (in my opinion) hasn't lived up to his pre-NBA billing.

Let's face it: This is the Timberwolves; every player they draft ends up a bust or traded.

Well said.  I think they should take Towns, such a great fit and he can learn from Garnett.

But Mudiay absolutely has a chance to be the best player from this draft.  Not sure why people are so shocked by this.  When did Mudiay become chopped liver?

Well, maybe they're expecting to be in next year's center-rich, PG-poor lottery.  They can have Mudiay now and a big stud next year.

Flip's been on his game lately I'd give him the benefit of the doubt for the moment.  Plus there's the plus of getting a good asset for Rubio, who is very one dimensional.

And Mudiay, unlike Russell, won't steal too many outside shots from Wiggins and Lavine going forward...

Maybe some people are thinking about last year's "mysterious overseas pick"—Dante Exum—and how he didn't fare so well this year.

I actually don't mind Timberwolves drafting mudiay if they believe he is the best player available
Rather than getting him cuz of fit or to replace Rubio

I mean in 2008 draft people would say Beasley is th consensus 1 or 2 pick and think taking Westbrook or love is crazy
But now we can tell that Westbrook and love are both better players

I wonder who would be available for trade if they went with Mudiay. They would have Rubio,Lavine, Muhammad,Martin, and Mudiay all fighting for time. They invested money in Rubio, but sounds like he wants out.

I'd love to have LaVine, but I thnk he may be just as untouchable as Wiggins right now the way he finished the season. But it would be nice to have a SG with size that can handle some PG responsibility that takes some of the pressure off of Smart. Something AB can't really do.

But man, if they went with Mudiay... Mudiay,Lavine,Wiggins,Player X,Dieng is one heck of a young core to start off with.
