Cs need a lot more than DJ to compete.

Yeah but he upgrades the team and fills a huge need.

I am not saying we don't need him, I am saying we need him and then some more.

None of the 4 teams in the Conference Finals made it past the first round last year.

The prospect of Harden & Terry trying to guard Curry & Thompson has got be a frightening prospect for the Rockets.
Good luck with that.

Getting DJ is a way of enticing other free agents our way, especially of the power forward variety who want a defensive big next to them. Cough LMA, Love Cough

Hahahah. At least one of the four teams have had a certain player whose made it to the NBA Finals four straight times.

And at least one of the four teams are a Texas team, in which they do pretty well neutralizing that certain player in the finals.

Only coach in history to blow two series up 3-1 , at least Doc has got that going for him.

I've been saying for awhile that there HAS to be a Doc Rivers effect here.  We saw first hand here in Boston, especially with game 6s.  How many times has his teams lost a game 6 with the chance to move on?  And not just lose, but sometimes get straight up walloped.

If Steve Ballmer understands anything about basketball, he may have to have a conversation with Doc about relinquishing his GM title.  Because through 2 years, he really hasn't shown enough that he can handle it.  He practically walked into an already solid starting 5...Paul, Crawford, Barnes, Griffin, and Jordan were already there. And his work at finding role players has been horrendous...Jared Dudley, Hedo Turkoglu, Danny Granger, Spencer Hawes, Antwan Jamison, Stephen Jackson, even Glen Davis...guys that on paper seem like maybe they could work, and then just turn out to be colossal failures

I can't even hate on Ogaju for hating on Doc after this, that was just terrible. The Clippers fired Vinny Del Negro to... experience literally the exact same level of success under Doc?

I was pulling for the Clips (I don't really get the animosity toward them on here), but if this pushes DJ toward leaving...I'd be thrilled. Great series though, we won't forget this one for quite some time.

You don't get the animosity? Are you kidding? Doc cost us DJ and Bledsoe.

Uhhmmmm how did Doc do that to us???

As I recall Doc wanted KG on the Clippers and proposed a trade that was KG for DJ but was blocked by Stern at the time.

Sooooo yeahh...

Stern blocked it?  I'm pretty positive that's not how it happened at all.  If I remember correctly, Doc wanted KG, Ainge said he'd only do it if Jordan was coming back to us, and then the deal pretty much died.  Doc wanted KG, but not at the expense of Deandre Jordan

I only threw that stat in there as a jab at Doc , that Orlando series where they blew that lead against the Pistons was a life time ago, really.
But it will real interesting to see Doc work his "magic" if DJ walks.

I think Stern blocked it b/c we traded Doc, said we couldn't trade with them for a season. Honestly don't remember how it all went down but it was pretty shady.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Doc was unwilling to part with DJ, but they were still trying to do a coach and player swap with KG somehow. That's when Stern blocked it only allowing Doc to be traded for their first round pick.

Thank you David Stern, DJ wasn't on the table and we weren't going to get the fleecing we got out of Brooklyn.

The original situation was that it had become an open secret that we were talking about trading Doc and KG as a package, when under the rules they had to be completely separate situations.  Lots of potential tampering issues when a coach is under contract with one team but has an unofficial agreement with another.  Technically we couldn't trade Doc at all, only release him from his contract.  So we were banned from making any more transactions with them that year.
