I've read that one of the things Lou Williams has got going for him is Toronto's record. But if you combine Phoenix's record before Isaiah left and Boston's record after he arrived, Isaiah is something like 48-35 for the season (if I didn't mess up my math). Same number of wins and only two more losses than Toronto. And Isaiah was the sixth man on both teams.
Plus the fact that he impacted both teams so positively - they're 30-49 combined without him - should account for something. Even considering he's not the only reason Boston got better (they were getting better before, with Crowder and Prince, plus Prince's departure and Jerebko's arrival helped) and Phoenix got worst (Dragic leaving had obviously much to do it).

a bench guy playing on a contender would get more votes cuz he is seen as helping his team win more

There are only 3 guys this year in contention - Thomas, Crawford and Williams

I thought Louis Williams from the raptors would gets it because Crawford was injured for a couple games and both are scoring quite similarly in terms of % and volume. Playing the same role as firepower off the bench

I think Thomas gets it as raptors have gone downhill and Thomas has been fairly consistent off our bench giving us scoring and assists and energy for us
Plus he adds a different dimension offensively for us as he is the only guard that can breakdown the defence on the dribble

The Celtics have had the second best record in the Eastern conference, just under the Cavs since Feb 1st I believe. Taking into account IT's acquisition later in the month, I'd say it's fair to assume he has done WAY more for this team than Williams has for the Raptors.
