If the C's win 1 more game they are in because they own the tie breaker(head to head) over both Ind and Brk and would be the 7th seed  .

The only way they can get the 8th seed is if either Brk or Ind wins 2 games , c's lose both games , and the other of ind and brk loses 2 games also .

Do I have this right ?

I would rather play atl, but you just have to guarantee your spot in the playoffs at this point , the Raptors game will be huge .

Let's say we win and get in, it is on to the Cavs ..

One thing I will say is, 2 of their top 3 have players have no playoff experience . In the end I see us losing in 6 at best.

For Boston to not make the playoffs the following needs to happen:

* Boston loses both of it's remaining games
* Indiana wins both of it's remaining games
* Brooklyn wins both of it's remaining games

If all three of these things happen (pretty unlikely, but not impossible) then Indiana and Brooklyn will have a tried record and they will take the 7th and 8th seeds (depending which of them wins the tie-breaker).  Boston will fall to the 9th seed and will be eliminated from playoff contention.

* If Indiana wins both games and Brooklyn loses one game, then Boston and Indiana go through

* If Brooklyn wins both games and Brooklyn loses one game, then Boston and Brooklyn go through

* If Boston wins one game and Indiana and Brooklyn both win all their games, then Boston will go through along with the team that holds the tie-breaker between Indiana and Brooklyn

Don't get your hopes up, lol. ;D The thought of having to play the Cavs in the first round evoked a memory of a specific 6 second part of this clip, from 1:21-1:27.  It will be 5 games, max, so, as a fan base, we should -

You have no idea how much I hate that movie, lol. ;D Ugh.

Haha I just want the C's to take the cavs to 5 and no blowouts, that would be a solid 1st round against a team like LBJ's cavs.

Just had a dream where we beat the cavs in five games

We also had jimmy butler on the team

I stole the ball from lebron with three seconds to go and passed it to jimmy on the break to win by two

I REALLY REALLY thought it was real at the time, haha
I trust Danny Ainge

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
So basically for those who want to avoid Cavs, we hope for Chicago to beat Brooklyn tonight, lose both of our next games, and hope for Indiana to win their last two...otherwise it is very unlikely we slip from the 7th seed - which I am fine with, but really hate watching the Cs lose to a Lebron led team.

Not exactly. The first two points are correct, in the third you only need one of the teams to lose one game.

So: we're out of the play-offs if we lose out and Brk and Ind win out
we're eighth if we lose out and only one of the two win out
we're seventh in all other scenarios

Even tho the cavs have more talent, our team seems more hungry. The Celtics are 22-12 since Feb 2, 2nd best in the eastern.... That counts for something.

My problem with the Cavs match up vs Hawks is that Cavs(Lebron) will have the refs on their side getting all the star calls.
Hawks don't really have superstars that draw calls just for being stars.

obviously both teams are better then the Celtics, but I want the match to be fair.

Harabalos remarked on twitter that it wasn't a great idea the Celtics beat the Cavs by 40. Can't get to the tweet now, but said something like "I saw Boston maybe winning one of 2 in CLE but not after this."

Anyone buy into this?

You know what? Even if we end up getting destroyed by the Cavs....

At least our players will go through having to play playoff basketball against the best player in the world and his juiced up team. Once Brad Stevens and our young Celts gets a wiff of that, it will make us better.

I thought the same thing. Why poke the bear when you're very possibly going to see them in a series coming up?
