Maybe the worst kept secret in the NBA is that Phil Jackson plans to pursue Detroit Pistons forward Greg Monroe in free agency this summer. In fact, one league executive called it “about as close to a done deal as you can get.”
It’s easy to connect the dots; Monroe’s agent, David Falk, is one of the few agents that Jackson has a relationship with going back more than 20 years when Falk was representing Michael Jordan. Falk is looking for a max contract for Monroe and the Knicks, coming off the worst season in franchise history, are happy to oblige.
Monroe is absolutely not a max contract player, but he almost certainly will be paid like one. Hope its the Knicks, not us, that overpay for him.

It's getting to be that season again ......you know the season where the New York tabloids have every available free agent and every star played rumored to be on the block going to the Knicks.Oh wait, it's always that season.

Maybe. But why would the Cs want him? Guy needs and ton of touches to be effective, and he's an absolute joke on defense. Pass.

Pass.I much , much prefer to see the Knicks spend cap space on Monroe instead of a guy like Marc Gasol or Jimmy Butler. This would be a win for us if they sign him.
If they draft Towns, Monroe could work well.It could also work if they get a guard -- Mudiay or Russell -- and sign a defensive big man to put next to him.
