I think they should take away all the Lakers championships and throw the city in the ocean!

This is the only real solution.  Move the Clippers back to San Diego, I guess.  Maybe.  Whatever.

Folks, there's a good compromise for this situation:

1) We will not count any championships they won as the MSP Lakers.

2) They have the right, however, to all the T-Wolves' championships since then.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
The whole thing is kind-of a bummer for me. That 2010 championship not only prevented the Cs from getting to #18, but brought LAL to within one (instead of 3!) of us. And what people say is true - LA is a more attractive FA destination than Boston. I guess I am just hoping they turn into the Clippers of old, while Boston lands a couple Davis/Durant type prospects in the draft - it seems to be our only hope.

lol all I know is that I enjoy seeing the Clips hammer them every time they play.....for that matter, I enjoy ALL of the hammering they've experienced lately.

Their blogs are now almost as quiet as a church mouse peeing on cotton.

I enjoy what BOS has done this season...what Ainge has done to make us competitive and a LOT closer to winning a Banner than LA will be for the foreseeable future.

I enjoy seeing our coach Brad Stevens reap the benefits of our recent winning as well - he deserves full credit for maxing out our potential.

Our coach has been mentioned in some circles as a COY.

Our future is a LOT brighter than the Lakers.

Even "IF" BOS falters here down the stretch, the ride has been AWESOME. I did not expect BOS to be contending for a playoff spot with less than a week to go.

I don't dislike the Lakers...."That" much. But every time I start to feel sorry for them, I remember THESE plays:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6NGUpm4LHE

I was in my early teens and had only been a basketball fan for maybe 5 years when I saw that...I had NEVER seen Magic hit a hook before...talk about a gut punch.

I do hope that we can resume our rivalry - soon. But my idea of "soon" is seeing the Lakers fester in Lotteryville for the next ten years while BOS continues to build back towards contention.

I think that would be fair.

Let me make it clear that I am a huge Celtics fan, with that being said I feel the Lakers have been the better franchise in the past 50 years. We won a lot of titles through the 40s-60s, the Lakers won more since. Yes the titles belong to the franchise so we are still ahead of them but I would say in the next decade or so they will take over and have more. Even ask Doc who coached us, he said it himself the Lakers are the best franchise.
Past 50 years? No way

20 years? Ya

And I do not want to watch any videos seeing the Celtics losing to the Lakers in the finals lol.

So I've watched all finals rerun except 2010. I didn't even know what happened after the 4th quarter ended nor did I even cared lol. All I remembered was some Laker tossing the ball across the court fighting a rebound right before the buzzer and I shut off my tv and called it a season lol.

I don't care who is considered the "best" franchise, but I do like that the C's have the most championships.   I can't imagine anyone hating the Lakers more than I do, but it's hard to argue that the title count is anyting other than 17-16.

Problem I have is that the LA Lakers are the easiest franchise in sports to GM.  Possible exceptions are the Red Sox and Yankees who are able to recover from any number of mistakes based on their unlimited budgets.   The Lakers just need to weather any bad stretch by creating cap-space.  The bonus they getting this year with their uber-successful tank will just accelerate their rebuild.  But no team has an easier formula for rebuilding than the Lakers.  No matter how much cap space the C's generate, there is no guarantee we'll get superstars here.  Lakers will -- guaranteed.

I've actually heard that. To which I respond, "Any of those 8 teams could've become dominant, but only Boston did."

Fixed.  ;)

If things break just right in the next year or two, it could become true that L.A. remains a prime free-agent destination, but the Lakers don't—that is, the Clippers become the toast of the town.

Sure, the Lakers might get a really good pick this season, but Kobe's almost done, and once he's gone, there will be no attraction to the Lakers other than the city itself. Plus, they've dealt several of their upcoming picks, I think, so it's realistic that in the summer of 2016, free agents could be looking at the Lakers and seeing Rookie X, Julius Randle, and a bunch of nobodies.
