Let me just say for those of you who say James Young is screwed if we draft a SF, move young to back up SG. He's a mismatch waiting to happen.

Future Core:
Smart
Young
Winslow
Sully (IF the weight is okay)
C to be named (Possibly Zeller)

Neither Johnson or Winslow will be available when the Celtics pick.  Winslow has made enough a lot of money in this NCAA tourney.

I have no qualms resigning Crowder to be a rotation guy.  They'll still need to upgrade SF as a whole but Crowder could be had for relatively cheap & seems to do okay in the system.

Winslow will be long gone by the time we pick. Still think we need to be focused on picking up a center if possible anyway.

Crowder is gone either way

Doubt it.
Long-form is far from dead, but please refrain from paragraph-laden posts! Who wants to read that?!

Ainge has just about reached the limits of the asset-collection phase of the rebuild, and he has a really nice collection of supporting players. He must know it is now time to focus on exchanging assets to get a couple of real stars.

I don't see the C's staying put with their current picks, because the chances of nabbing a star are small. We aren't really building more value by adding more solid contributor level players at this point.

I think he knows there are players with a realistic chance of becoming superstars in this draft: Okafor, Towns, Russell, Winslow and maybe Mudiay, and a super role player in WCS that would help almost as much as a star. I see us either trading up for one of these guys, or trading the choices.

Crowder is a very nice player to keep, but Ainge knows his priorities and will move him if he has to to get a star.

You're right about Winslow, but I'm not sure about Johnson. I've seen two recent mock drafts that have had him at 9 and 12, which would suggest he's in reach for us to possibly move up and get him. Dekker and Kaminsky have pushed his stock down with their play in the tournament. I'd love to get Johnson at 12.

Ideally, you sign Crowder to a tradeable contract.  If the rookie needs time to develop, you can play Crowder and Turner in the short term, then possibly move one of them for a pick if the guy you drafted (or Young) earns more time at SF.

Crowder would be the perfect guy to bring off the bench.  He's energetic and also a defensive stopper.  I hope we retain him on a reasonable deal.  Having him certainly doesn't stop me from looking for an upgrade at SF though.

It says he was a second round pick.  Wouldn't that mean he is an unrestricted free agent this summer?

No, he signed a 3-year contract. He's restricted (as long as qualifying offer is tended).

You guys kill me, what happens to Crowder?   Is this is a joke?   Because it is funny as crap.  We either sign him for a realistic deal or we move on.

He is not a guy you build your team around but is the kind of guy you want on your team.  He stays only if it is cost effective.

We will be at 15 if we mAke the playoffs. If  a Johnson type player is avail at 12, I highly doubt that teAm is trading it..

Did Winslow really make that big of a jump this tournament? Is he really the clear pick over Stanley Johnson now?

this is a great take on the situation, TP for td450.

CBS I don't think has much interest in developing players.  He wants professionals that play hard and fit his system.  To that end, I don't see anyway Ainge lets Crowder leave.  There are only a few guys in the league who fit that swiss-army knife role of being able to legitimately guard bigs and smalls.  Off the top of my head, you've got Draymond Green, Danny Green, Demarre Carrol, Jae Crowder, and then guys like Lebron/Kauai/JButler who command max deals.

Like Ainge said recently, Crowder was 'under-valued'.  I see us locking him up in a similar fashion as we did with AB a couple years back.  With rotational bigs like Crowder, Bass, Jerebko & Zeller; and rotational guards like Smart & AB --- all we really need to do is add one All Star and along with Thomas we'll be right back in the thick of the East for years to come.
