WAAAYY to early to freak about James Young. He's a project. What do you expect, 10 5 5 as a rookie? This kid is athletic with a stroke, played big minutes at the best program in college and will go nowhere but up. He's doing better than Joel Embiid and not much worse than Aaron Gordon. Not many dudes outside Wiggins are having a big impact. These kids are here bc they could get drafted high. It's the choice over further grooming in college. What's the big surprise. He missed training camp too if I recall directly and surely needs more maturation (mental more than physical). Give it time people .... He won't take as long as Perk or Gerald to develop. Probably quicker than Al Jeff too.

Why does he look like he doesn't take the NBA seriously?

Is he not beating his chest and screaming enough?
How may Loose balls have you seen him dive for. AH my head is hurting. I can't think of one. Take a charge not that I have seen. Only 2 blocks.

But I do believe he will blossom. He has a stroke and he is not slow.
Last game he grabbed a loose ball on a long rebound that a Piston was in better position for, but Im not sure if Id call that a loose ball and back in the Hawks game he tipped a Korver pass and chased it all the way down the court and I believe he dove on the ball and was able to get us possesion( I think he outhustled the much quicker Teague)

Not playing young downs his confidence and development

But guys should earn their spots
U can't give spots away

With the depth at SG and SF
Would u say young is better than Bradley, smart, datome, crowder or even turner
Right now he isn't
But he is a project and should improve

I'd like to see more of Young. I also prefer that the C's get in the lottery than in the playoffs. I am not a fan tanking, as in, try to lose. I am a big fan of developing players and increasing the value of assets (while rebuilding).  I think Stevens has done a good job increasing the value of the team's players, and I'd like to see that happen with Young over the last dozen games.  I think player development is more important than getting in the playoffs.

I'll be in the minority saying this, but getting Rogers/Delk was exciting for a moment but not in the Celtics best long-term interest.   Similarly, getting in the playoffs this year may come with some excitement, but may not be in the team's best interest longer term.  Let the kid play.

Yeah other than some 3s that he's knocked down, I am not that impressed with James Young.

He has a nice shooting stroke, but he still needs ALOT of work.

I'm extremely impressed.  I don't judge players like this as a finished product.  He's 20, and suppose to still be at Kentucky.  If he gets the defense and rotations down, he'll be a great player on any team in the very near future.

Personally, I feel he will be moved by Ainge.  I think a trade looming in the next couple of years will involve Young + picks.  Ainge will add a quality starter who can play right away & doesn't need time + development.

A lot of folks on CB seem to like him.  They cut him a lot of slack because of age, height and athleticism.  In reality he hasn't shown much.  The consensus is that he has a nice shooting stroke and there is an anticipation he will develop into a lights out shooter. Yet, as of now, he seldom does much scoring.  And, I'm not sure if he's going to improve over the next few years.  I agree with you in that within the next couple years it's probable that he will be moved as part of a package to get a better player.

To wait and see if he improves is a gamble Danny will have to decide. Personally, I get frustrated watching him for many of his shots rattle around the rim and bounce out or they miss completely.
