I Hate it more than anything else in this team right now.  >:( Do you think it can hurt us cap-wise down the road? and\or potentially hinder us from acquiring a max-player at the 2 guard spot?

no. and at worst it was a small mistake since for a few million dollars more than a replacement player, the celtics have a very good defender who is a streaky shooter and is only 24.

and if THIS bothers you, you must have pulled your hair out, be into drinking and heavy drugs, and need therapy over wallace's contract.

may i suggest you buy a wig, enter rehab, and listen to your therapist, heal and enjoy the celtics and cb.  ;D

if this is the worst part of the celtics the team is doing ok. you want bad contracts with questionable players? look at the knicks or nets.

When the salary cap really go's up in a year or so his salary really won't be that bad.

There really isn't many elite SGs are out there, and none I can think of that would be available.

Yes it can hurt our flexibility significantly.  I hope we can find a way to dump it.

Or it cannot. Once Wallace's contract is up by 2016 the cap will rise significantly, making the Bradley deal a huge bargain. Ainge overpaid for him but other teams overpaid for players much older than Bradley and have probably peaked as players. AB has at least 2 or 3 more years to reach his peak (I don't think a substantial improvement but maybe a better FG% and better handles). 8 million in the new TV deal will be cake to move if Danny decides that Avery isn't suited  to our needs anymore. Hopefully someone like James Young emerges as our actual SG of the future or maybe we can land an up and coming SG via FA or trade. Or we can simply draft one that has a bigger upside than AB. We'll be fine.

Yeah,  I like AB ......but not as much as his contract paid him.  I like him on the cheap ,  would have rather invested in better guard like Reggie Jackson......we sucked anyway , should have let him go......made a nice offer , and stood firm.

I am disappointed with how Bradley has played this year but I think he can still improve over the term of his contract.  If he doesn't improve, the contract will go down as a modest overpay but I can't see how this will be a salary cap disaster or anything like that.

I still like Bradley and am not ready to give up on him.

I think Bradley's contract will end up looking neither like a "huge bargain", nor a "modest overpay".

More likely, like Jeff Green's contract it'll shift from slightly questionable to in line to a bargain by the end of its term.

Probably also like Green, Bradley won't reach folks' greatest hopes for his potential, but he should be making the reverse journey from Green in his time here: going from a marginal starter on a bad team early on to a solid bench contributor on a good team later in the deal.

While I'm personally not an AB fan I'm not sold that Reggie is better than him. Better PG sure but Bradley isn't a point guard. Grass is always greener on the other side.

Ainge has a very good track record of signing contracts that prove to be good value. I don't really follow the venom for the Bradley deal.  He's a young player, still coming up. The Celtics will have greater financial flexibility the next two summers than they've had had on most of our lifetimes.

I think people think he over paid him.   That is where the most the animus comes from.  Bradley is 24, he should be coming into his prime in a two years.   What we see now isn't always encouraging.  You make him seem like he is a rookie but he has been in the league five years.

No it rises gradually over 2 years. But by the time GW's contract comes off the books hopefully we will not have Avery Bradley's clogging things up.
Even if its JUST 8 MIL...that still is money better spent somewhere else.

even if it was an overpay, which, as pointed out above, is not going to be the case once the cap goes up, etc., why blame bradley for taking money that was pushed across the table to him?

ala wallace, blame owners and GMs for overpaying. i see no reason to feel animosity towards a player for taking what was offered to them. i would do it as well. so, blame ainge if you wish, but not bradley.

You don't really understand the concept of overpaying, do you? The cap is irrelevant, what is relevant is the price of similar players who could have been signed at the same time.
