Reminds me of a KG. Probably can't match his intensity - doubt any one can, but looks to be a beast that shows some similarities in all-around game. If he comes out in 2017, I think I'd trade half our draft picks to move up for him.

He could be eligible in 2016.  We've got 9 picks in that draft so far -- all of them for Thon Maker?

Yea - he is suppose to decide in the next few weeks if he is going to reclassify and enter college next season.  The talent that is coming through the pipe line is impressive the next few years...

Maker, Giles, Jaylen Brown, Ben Simmons, Malik Newman and Dennis Smith Jr. etc....

The one to keep an eye on is Harry Giles Jr.  Harry is currently a Junior in high school but before he hurt his knee is was widely regarded as the best player in high school basketball regardless of class.  He sat out his sophomore season and is back playing this year....check out his highlights on youTube, he is a very impressive player.

I've read that he is considering reclassifying to the 2016 freshman class, but here is my question:  I know he spent some time in the U.S. but he is from Sudan and he is currently going to school in Canada, right?

Would it be possible for him to declare for this year's draft as an international prospect?  I'm not asking if it is likely, because I haven't read anything indicating he is considering that option.  I'm just wondering if it is possible.  How does the NBA's international early entry rule work; how do they define an "international athlete"?  I had the thought that perhaps that is why he moved to Canada to begin with.

EDIT: he may reclassify to 2015 class.  He is currently in 2016 incoming freshman class.

I thought that too, but everything you read is that he may go to Kentucky or Louisville.  I know he spent a few a years in high school in the states??  not sure if that effects it as well??  I have only seen him play on TV once, he was impressive....

D looked horrible in these games by the teams defending him but you can see his talent.

Notes: Measured 7'0.5 (with shoes) 194 lbs with a 7'2 wingspan at the 2013 LeBron James Skills Academy

Lacks that great length. KG had like a 7-5 wingspan. As did Anthony Davis. Dwight Howard.

His length is more like a Dirk Nowitzki.

I am hitching my wagon to Harry Giles Jr, the knee injury scares me but he seems to be fully recovered this year...

Sometimes the long arms do not come until later in growth spurt like 17-18.   Some of it is as the chest widens the arm span grows, he might have some room in that area.   I am 6'7" with a 6'11" wingspan and lot of mine is my shoulders got wider and thereforce my wingspan grew as I filled out.

I had a college coach tell this to my 6'6" 16 year old when he asked why his arms were not as long as Dad's.

That's interesting. I did not know that. Makes sense.

So Thon Maker's wingspan could be much better come draft time.

I read this article a couple of days ago about Thon Maker possibly being in the 2016 NBA Draft.

http://www.courier-journal.com/story/sports/recruiting/kentucky/2015/01/11/thon-maker-will-decide-soon-reclassifying-john-calipari-watched-saturday/21593461/

Sounds like he's definitely keen and all going well, he should be in a college next season. I don't think another year of high school basketball would do much for him.
