is it me or is Danny being awfully nice instead of being the SHREWD GM that most GM's make him out to be. Just within the last few weeks, we've traded with about 5+ teams. Is Danny change his image and become more of the 'wolf' in sheep's clothing when it really matters? I don't EVER remember any team doing more dealing that this within a few few weeks span.
Is he doing favors now so that later down the line - like the Godfather - he can call in his requests?

I think that is mostly incidental, but it doesn't hurt. In particular, Rivers to the Clippers would additional add to his reputations of doing what is best for a player's career, even if the Celtics don't really get anything out of the move. The fact that every move has been beneficial for players involved (traded to better teams, given free agency through buyout, getting a bigger role like Crowder), I think Danny is also making some agents happy.

Yeah, I think this is an under-appreciated aspect of all of these trades. He's now created several favors for other GMs to owe him in the future, along with all of the assets he's attained in the process.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

I think he is showing players and agents that if they come to Boston he will take care of them. Even if that means finding better homes for them if Boston turns out to be a wrong fit. Free Agency is just around the corner...

I think that's a very small side benefit to what DA has been doing. The Cs are in full on rebuild mode and Danny's getting what he can out of the assets he's got. Nothing more, nothing less.
Celtics fan for life.

The problem here, of course, is that when Ainge tries to speak Italian to Mike, as it were, Mike doesn't even have to go to the bathroom to get the gun -- he just has to hang up the phone.

I think he's always been in 'good graces' with the entire league. GM's, Players, Agents, etc.  He's straight up with everyone involved.  Nobody is out of the loop except the media.

When you play your cards like that, you've earned a good reputation around the league and it makes it a bit easier at the negotiating table.  He's a good salesman.
