Getting real out there in Cleveland. Spent 6 years around K-Love and I can't imagine that Blatt quote is gonna sit very well with him.

Not sure how out of context that Blatt quote is. I doubt he's referencing their actual contracts.

Considering Love actually is playing on a max deal for someone of his experience, and Irving's max doesn't technically start until next season, he's defninitely not speaking of contracts.
Well then...that clears that up. I'm not sure what message Blatt is trying to get across to the players or the media with a comment like that.

Definitely taken out of context.

Blatt presumably was alluding to the fact that Love signed a four-year extension with Minnesota in 2012 instead of the maximum length of five years, but Love's yearly salary was still the maximum number allowed at the time. Love is expected to opt out of the final year of his current contract this summer to sign another max deal.

What a joke.

This is why we should all be relieved we didn't get this guy

If the Cavs are smart, they trade Love by the trade deadline.

Wolves robbed the Cavs.

Why would he stay? There aren't other max contracts out there? The team doesn't fit at all. No comparison to the Heat team LeBron went to.

True.

Mainly as I been saying LeBrons superhuman days are nearly over.  He can still be the biggest part of a team and best player. For now.  But.....he no longer can just will any game his way on shear athletic ability .

Maybe players will come to LeBron for the next 2-3 years in Ohio in hopes of getting a ring.  But I  think LeBron will have to leave the Cavs to find another contender to join.,  if he hasn't had success in 2-3 years .     Thus ....leaving Cavs without Wiggins and with shatter dreams .

Irving is a natural Laker and maybe Love go there too.

I wouldn't bet on it.

He learned his lesson in Minn.   you don't sign a long term contract with a team like the Cavs.  He doesn't want to be stuck there , if James is hurt , too old, or logically going to leave himself.

I think it's going to be a game of chicken .....to see who signs a long term contract first .

Honestly ,  I believe next year is critical .  If they don't win or look like THE team in 2016 .....it will fall to pieces.   Love has zero ties or desire to stay in OHIO .   He must be miserable.

Love might sign a three year deal......with options to run

I see Irving running for the Lakers ,  if LeBron doesn't show signs of being the old LeBron dominating .

I think the whole Cavs deal is destined to fail.......with the Wiggins trade as the dumbest deal ever. Rental of Love for Wiggins .  Who will be one of the NBA s supers in a couple years .......

They could have had Irving and Wiggins for a decade. ......horrible planning.

Blatt might think KLove isn't worth a max contract, but there are a lot of teams with cap space that are more than willing to offer him a max, including us

IF Lebron stays, then I expect Love to sign a one year contract so he'll have a greater earning potential in 2016 as mentioned by another poster above.

As for the comment from Blatt, everybody seems to be reacting from a glass half empty perspective.  Until I see a video of HOW he said it, it's hard to make a judgement call that it's meant to be a knock on Love as opposed to it being a factually true statement that he isn't a max player yet.

You can argue semantics, but Blatt's definition at the moment of the question might have been different.  Also, what purpose does it serve to sling an insult at one of your top three players at this point in the season?

Bottom line - Both men will give this team at least two years to come together.  Whether Blatt is around for that second year may be the better question.

Are some of you guys serious? You're "thankful"  Love didn't come to the C's? LOL. Maybe Love just isn't a good fit with Kyrie and LeBron. It also doesn't help he doesn't have a legitimate center next to him. Some of you act like his lack of defense is new news. Didn't we already know he wasn't a good defensive player?

Honestly I think he bolts. Cleveland is a hot mess and I'm not even convinced LeBron actually stays there. And I think love knows that as well.

Kevin Love sucks, but this is obviously about the TV deal.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Love isn't leaving

You were pretty convinced that the Cavs were going to dominate the league for the next half decade when they got love. Remember that? Still think the Wiggins trade was a no-brainer for them?

I'm still not convinced they will not... despite the overreactions by everyone.  This same thing happened with the Heat when they formed their Big 3.  They've lost 7 out of 8 without the best player in the world... omg, alert the presses...

I remember after their early struggle I said something to the extent of, "Don't act surprised if the Cavs suddenly rattle off 10 in a row"... the very next day they went on an 8 game win streak.  They lost game 9 with LeBron out.

That team is going to be extremely dangerous.  They are the favorites in the East.  And Love isn't going anywhere.  It's been established for a long time that he was going to opt out.  It's just for more money.

If Love does opt out to join the Lakers, that Love for Wiggins/Bennett deal is going to go down in history as one of the worst trades of all time.  Wiggins is a phenom prospect.
