Good post and I have no idea.

People are acting like stockpiling draft picks is some kind of godsend and I have no idea what the big deal is.

I was called Billy King because I would've used a couple picks to get Mozgov.

If you're not going to use the draft picks to acquire veterans, than what's the point of having the draft picks?

I can't help but wonder if some think the next Lebron is going to fall into our lap with the draft.

That might happen, but I wouldn't bet it on it.

To understand the excitement of Draft Picks, you have to consider two major facts:

1st: When you draft a player, he is under your control for 8 years(and he is guaranteed to not earn to much money for 4 years), which is very attractive, especially to the not prime FA franchises

2nd: Draft Picks are the NBA´s main currency. You can think about it, as Draft Picks in the NBA basicly serve the same purpose as money does in the economy. It is the currency that helps participants of the market, to exchange goods(players in this case). Having a lot of Draft Picks equals, having a lot of money, which is obviously a good thing.

I am not judging the value of having draft picks and tanking vs having "better" players and beeing competetive and so on. Just trying to explain.

Celtics are competitive, winning games they should win and losing a lot of close ones. Ainge is getting something for his assets not giving players away.

Will be interesting to see what he can concoct with all the picks he has. I like the young players they have and think they will have a chance to do something special in a few years.

I haven't been too high on Ainge lately. It's hard for me to get excited over draft picks when I think of some of the guys that have been drafted by the Celtics in the last decade (cough, Fab Melo). Sometimes Ainge hits and other times he misses. But I'd rather have actual players and not prospects, that's just me.

It's curious though to see guys like Morey in Houston and McDonough, or whatever his name is in Phoenix, do well after working under Ainge while he seems to flounder over in Boston. If Ainge hits with another player that can be more of a star than Sullinger or Bradley, at the level of Kawhi or George, then I'll be happy.
Long-form is far from dead, but please refrain from paragraph-laden posts! Who wants to read that?!

Good points all - I was just stirring the pot a little bit.

Some people would call that trolling. Not on this board, though. ;D Kind of par for the course.
