Toronto looks like a great partner. Wright for Hayes and a pick (protected 1st) or two (second rounders) looks like a good deal for both.

The Raptors are looking. They are clearly in the market for a defensive minded big man, preferably at the power forward spot, but sources close to the situation say the Raptors are not locked in on any one situation.

The Raptors also don’t have a lot to offer as their core guys are deemed pretty untouchable, which means the chips on the table likely include players like Landry Fields (6.25 million), Chuck Hayes ($5.95 million), Tyler Hansbrough ($3.32 million) and long-time Raptor Amir Johnson ($7.00 million).

There is a ton of salary in those contracts, but not exactly the kind of players that other teams get excited about. The fact that all of them are ending contracts could help in a deal, but they don’t seem overly desirable as roster players.

Since when is Brandan Wright a defensive minded big? Yes, he's athletic but he's never been much of a rim protector.

exactly and he isn't a Varejao type dirty work player either.  He is a bench player with an expiring contract.  He would help a contender, but he isn't going to bring much of anything back.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Wright is much better suited as a PF than he is a C. As a PF he has the length and athleticism to be impactful as a defender. Let's not forget he was averaging 1.6 blocks in less than 20 mpg for Dallas.

Give me a better option for the Raps. One that is as available, as talented, and that's asking price will be as low as Wright's.

I think as a backup big, Wright can provide that for Toronto. Toronto wants to make some noise in the playoffs and will need a big off the bench to backup Valucunias. Not that Wright will make them a legit championship contender but I think he could make them a bit better.

That being said, I think we can get a young player with probably a 2nd rounder for him

4. Brandan Wright is available. Boston Celtics president Danny Ainge has informed the 6-10 center that he's on the block and should expect to be on another team. That's why Wright had a head-scratching DNP this week on a team that could use his skill set. The Wizards would have to execute a trade to bring him on board and he has an expiring contract that pays $5 million. Given Boston's point-guard situation -- traded Rajon Rondo and now Marcus Smart is learning the job and Evan Turner isn't a natural at distributing -- they believe that Wright doesn't fit despite 72.4% field-goal shooting. Wright running the floor with John Wall or in the half-court with Andre Miller? Still not likely, but it would make for a fantastic highlight reel. A big who can step out to slow down the pick-and-roll like Wright's old teammate, Tyson Chandler of the Mavericks, and recover to shade the rim is invaluable. The Wizards would have to match salary but players of this caliber aren't expected to be available because the demand far outweighs the supply.

Quote
5. If Jameer Nelson gets bought of his contract, he could end up in a Wizards uniform. Nelson was part of the deal for Rondo that sent him from Dallas to Boston. The Wizards will be in hot pursuit because he's experienced and the type of combo guard they covet most for the open roster spot. This is the most likely of all the scenarios. Nelson is expected to negotiate a buyout. He would be on a pro-rated salary which would be a minimal cost to the Wizards, he'd come off the books after the season and it allows the veteran a chance to go deep into the playoffs for the first time in a while. And the playing time is there behind Beal (see item No. 1 on Allen). He simply has to be on the Wizards' roster by March 1, the deadline to be eligible for the postseason, and want to come here. If Nelson is bought out and doesn't end up in D.C., it won't be from lack of effort on this end.

Quote
Bonus: This is looking ahead to the offseason but keep an eye on what happens with Jeff Green, also of the Celtics (and on the trade block), who is expected to opt out of his contract and become a free agent this summer. If Pierce, who has a player option for next season with the Wizards, were to not return Green would immediately jump onto the short list of players the Wizards would court to fill the void.

Is this according to an unnamed source or a named source?

I got this from ESPN:

"Brandan Wright has not played a lot since his trade to the Boston Celtics and now we get word that the team is actively shopping him.

From J. Michael of CSN Washington: "Celtics president Danny Ainge has informed the 6-10 center that he's on the block and should expect to be on another team. That's why Wright had a head-scratching DNP this week on a team that could use his skill set."

Wright makes $5 million and the only teams with a big enough trade exception to accept his salary include Minnesota, New York and Sacramento. The Kings might have interest, but only if they can dump Jason Thompson.

Playoff teams not possessing a large enough trade exception, but are in need of a big, that might make Ainge on offer include the Clippers, Memphis, Portland, Toronto and Washington.

Wright's contract expires June 30, which makes him a free agent on July 1."

The Nelson news is not a surprise in the least.  Like I said, he signed with Dallas because he wanted to play for a contender.  There wasn't a chance he was going to opt in for next year if he weren't bought out or traded again before the end of the season.  The money clearly is a non-factor for Nelson, otherwise he would've just stuck with the Magic for the full $8 million he was owed for this season.

Yep, he's either used in a trade, or he's bought out after the deadline.  In either event, he'll be gone.

Crowder is not going anywhere imo. Already one of CBS fav

What does his contract situation look like with us for next season? Worse case sign a qualifying offer and become a ufa or rfa for 2016-2017 season?

Good news.

Until I see better result .

I'm totally unimpressed .

Jae Crowder on the other hand ...I love his NBA spirt .....is a rarity today ....for theses reasons alone he is worth keeping even if he can't shoot.

Team oriented first,  hustles , works hard on every play.  PLUS !  Most important it demonstrates to other players that NBA is a JOB , not a vacation, not fun all the time , and your expected to play like your paid.  his hustle play EXPOSES the slackers and attitude issues with other players and even the coach himself.    I might be wrong on all this ....maybe I'm confused ....but I doubt it.

Crowder sends a refreshing message , that REAL FANS understand and appreciate.

PlEASE keep CROWDER
