CLEVELAND: LeBron James dismissed an internet video making the rounds Wednesday that seemed to show him and Dwyane Wade talking about a reunion.

The video, which James also watched, was difficult to hear clearly. But James seemed to say something about reuniting with Wade. When asked about it Wednesday, he said it had nothing to do with basketball.

"If I was going to tell him that, I’d tell him that the night before. I’m not stupid. I know I didn’t go to college, but I’m not stupid," James said. "I wouldn’t say that on Christmas with 100 cameras around. I would’ve told him the night before at his house. It had nothing to do with leaving here and reuniting with him. ... Just talking on other things more than just basketball."

I believe him, he knew cameras would be on every breath they had on that court... I don't like him but come on now.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Maybe. Maybe not. I tend to agree with you. Yet I could see where the emotion after that particular loss might've got the better of him and he skipped up.

What else could he really be talking about in that context? Why would him and the cavs not getting better "this" season mean anything for their careers after hoops? That's like 6-10 years away.

Are you sure he was talking about that?

Maybe he's seen Danny Granger's sudden resurgence (sarcasm), lol ;D, and, with his knee now starting to bother him, realizes that the cold Cleveland winters just aren't good for his '30' year old body, lol.  Seriously, Miami's medical staff must be doing something right if Granger has now scored 14, 21, and 18 points in the past 3 games on 0.689 from the field and 0.625 from 3 off the bench.  Wow.  Good for Granger.  I just wish that he could have done this in Indiana last year.  Perhaps Bird needs to upgrade his medical staff.  He also should have kept him last year, but oh well.  Sigh.  If Lebron did return, Granger would be a serious upgrade over Ray Allen - especially on defense, imo.

If it was misinterpreted, why doesn't he just explain what he was talking about? What other possible interpretation could there be for the term "reunite"? Reunite for some business deals? Become co-managers of a fantasy football team?

I think he meant what he said but it was just something comforting to say to an old friend. Nobody should put that much stock in this, though LeBron still shouldn't have said it with so many cameras around.

Having seen all this, my theory is that they are talking about something other than basketball when talking about a reunion and in other parts it does sound like he's clowning on his Cleveland teammates.  Which I would understand.

I don't see how LeBron leaves Cleveland again.

In what off-court context would talk about being "better" and a reunion with wade would somehow solve that problem?

More likely that the comment was intentional, whether or not the plans are actually real.

No Lebron, Love, or Marion (and of course Varejao is out).

It's hard to win when four starters sit out.  I don't necessarily disagree with the rest of what you said, though.

If Lebron were serious, he wouldn't be saying it on National TV during a game on Xmas day.
Old friends likely joking around. Kinda like the comments you make about your ol 'lady when you run into your friends. I think that Lebron realized when he went back to Cleveland would be a process. Kevin Love just hasn't made that much of a difference.
But let's remember that the playoffs are totally different than regular season.

I don't know if any team really frightens another in the East.  It's all about the matchups, whose healthy and what team gets hot.
