Since the arrival of Rondo, Parsons has been playing like crap.

Rondo was good in the 1st game. Now he has gone back to resorting to play "my way" basketball. Just pounding on the ball and playing so so defense.

Goodluck MAvs. Lucky for the org, they can still trade him at the trade deadline for 25 cents on the dollar

Maybe they'll regret the Rondo trade but I think they'll regret overpaying for Parsons more.  Houston made a good decision not to match the offer.

  • You say when......
sure looked like no ball handlers now, and the league knows it.....no good passing, little movement... 7 foot 3 point shooters who don't follow the shot or go for any rebounds....no boxing out......our defense sucks basically......the only one who knows his job is zeller..!

This game was awful. It's not the same team with or without Rondo by any means. Like on the Mavs, Jameer appears to be a non-factor but I'll reserve that finite judgment until I see him play some more.

Likewise, I'm super quick to jump on Stevens for that putrid first half. Why did it take so long to get Bass in, aka one of the Celtics only positively consistent players? Why did Stevens let bean-pole Zeller guard the bigger, more skilled Vucevic? As a fan I felt like everyone through that game away in the first half instead of trying. If your team is going to play so bad I'm not sure why Stevens wouldn't put Wright in on Vucevic.

But again, I'm quick to jump on anyone, everyone honestly. I'm giving Stevens another year until I'm sold on him. I'm hoping with the trade deadline, the next draft, and next free summer that he actually gets "his guys in". It's only right to give him time and I'm crediting his management of the first half to "still rookie coaching".

I'm sure I'll find somewhere else to post the following sentiments but I really think it's time to trade Bass. I feel bad for the guy. Hard worker, consistent, and he's done his job as a Celtic since he came to the team what, four years ago? Yes, he's gonna get paid no matter what jersey he puts on but I like what the Cs take care of their guys and try to put them in a better situation, or at least one that's mutually beneficial for us and them. That said, please trade him to a better team for something.

As an aside, remember a couple years ago in preseason when our friend Scal said Green's play was reminiscent of James Worthy? Man, I blame myself for believing we'd see his most recent type of play a couple years ago lol

So after every win people are going to start about how we're better without Rondo.

Every loss people are going to go on about how we miss Rondo.

I'm already sick of this season.
i dont mind the season, it is the apparent deathlock rondo has on some posters' consiousness that bothers me. someday we may actually have a thread with no mention of rondo...someday.

Mavs lost again tonight.

They will come to regret the trade.

Did you watch the game? I did. Gerald Green hit six threes if I remember correctly. The Suns ran the craziest line up I've seen all season: Thomas, Dragic, Bledsoe, Green, and a Plumlee.

It wasn't Rondo. It was their porous first half defense. The selfish play of Devin Harris and Monta Ellis who froze out Charlie V after he hit two back to back threes, pulled a rebound down on the ensuing Suns possession, hit a floater on the other end, got a steal on the other end, and was rewarded by watching Harris and Ellis jack threes that were misses. And Dirk isn't hitting anything in the first half anymore it seems.

Some posters have more of an axe to grind with Rondo than others... welcome to the forums

I didn't start watching the game until mid 3rd period.  When the Suns went with that crazy small lineup, Carlisle left Parsons at the SF and Charlie V at the PF.  Watching them try to guard Bledsoe and Green was comical.  I don't know how Carlisle thought that would work.  I hesitate to say this but Dallas really, really could use Josh Smith if he'd play appropriately (i.e. no shots outside 5 feet).

They absolutely could!

I think many members around the forums are confusing the Mavs play with the arrival of Rondo and less of the departure of Wright. I like Charlie V but I've seen very little of Greg Smith to really question whether or not he is viable at all for this Mavs team.

Like you said, if Smith could come off the bench and finish passes from Rondo, block shots...well, I think this would be the Smith people would ENJOY seeing. Right now, Smith is far from a fun player to watch. He's more of a black hole on offense than Rondo was.

Heh... so you mean to tell me that Ellis was having trouble coexisting with Rondo?  Shocking.

Again, Dallas had the high scoring/most efficient offense in the league.  Introducing Rondo into the mix might work... or it might cause them to be worse.  Key to it will be how Ellis and Rondo manage to share ball-handling duties.  Ellis struggled to co-exist with one of the best shooters alive (Steph Curry) in the back court.  Good luck to them.

As for Boston... we had a rough start to the game last night mainly because of the iffy rotations.  Eventually we locked up another moral victory.

Boston was bad before and will be bad after.  Dallas was ok before and will be ok after.

Facts like that should never get in the way of a great narrative...
