I'm trying to think of a bigger buzzkill. Perhaps playing Gerald Wallace thirty minutes a game for the duration of the season would top that.

yeah against MIA we had no penetration and no possing to the bigs from the PG position. With the poor 3 point shooting thats just no good.

also havent seen Green or Suli getting the ball in position more than once a quater. Its not their fault if they don't score the ball if they never get a good pass.

whoever though that the game against MIN was an indication that the offence works as well without Rondo was misslead by the poor D of MIN - MIA played much better D and the fluid offence was gone. I wouldnt put that on the new lineup alone. Even with all starters on the floor there was just flow to the offence.

The best offence sequences were when Oly and Nelson passed the ball to Zeller. Nobody on the Heat lineup could defend him.

The games stoped beeing fun to watch after 3 TO at the beginning of the game. We didnt had any fast break points at all. So much for fast pace game.

So atm Nelson is an upgrade to Smart. Hopefully the reason for no penetration from Smart is because he is still recovering from his injuries and a step slow.

Nelson and Wallace starting with Bradley running point might actually win us the tank battle!!!

Inexcusable---if it leads to less time for Smart.

I'm baffled as to how starting Jameer Nelson will somehow boost his trade value? Quite frankly, I find the argument illogical. Nelson isn't some fresh faced rookie, he's a  ten year veteran. NBA talent evaluators have settled opinions as to what Nelson can, and cannot do, and a two month mini-sample isn't going to radically swing opinions.

This season is about one thing: planning for the future. Nelson won't play a meaningful part in our future, Smart will ( or he'll be used as a major piece in acquiring future talent). Smart needs 30+ minutes a night. He needs minutes to develop.

It's not surprising.  Smart isn't a point guard.

Though I might actually be the biggest Bradley booster on this blog, him running the point might allow us to catch Philly in the reverse standings.

Sounds like Stevens doesn't think Smart is ready to start yet. That he is better off learning from a bench role for now until he is further along in his development.

I expect that Smart will win-over Stevens and take starting job before season is over.

Hopefully he develops that fast but based simply on his play to now, I'm not sure he "deserves" to be the starter...

possibly.  Smart is just going to have to earn it in some regard.   Nelson serves a purpose in that regard too.  We can pull Smart and put Nelson in when he plays bad and he played bad last game.

It's ugly out there, but seemed to have worked because Smart came in and was bit more aggressive off the bench.  Still need to see more.

Nelson is actually a good fit in that regard as a vet though.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Nelson is a better player than Smart at this point.

Nelson doesn't know the offense, doesn't know the players, but he's a veteran who is the best point guard we have.
Good for the locker room and good for tanking. Smart was terrible vs the Heat but the more starts he gets, the more he'll learn.

I'd say it's got more to do with Stevens saying that Smart has to 'earn' his starting position.
Basically saying you had a poor game vs Miami, so the veteran gets the nod tonight. Play better.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

rolled back the clock ten years today. That might be the best fourth quarter performance I've seen by a Celtic all season.

Now somebody please trade for him.

Great words from a great man
