Who in their right mind would give up an all-star for half our team?

which half? until we get more guidance an informed vote is impossible. if you are asking whether we should trade:

rondo
green
sully
bradley
smart
olly
zeller...

and keep the rest, then no. such a trade would be silly. but if you reverse the keepers and tradees  above, then maybe yes.

but ultimately, who in the nba would trade a star for the dregs of the celtics?

Usually with NBA trades the team that gives up the best player loses.  That's why no one trades stars unless you have a Kevin Love situation where the guy can't stay wherever he is.

I'm sure Sacramento is dying to trade Cousins for Pressey, Thornton, Powell and Young. (I would have added Faverani to the deal, but then I thought it is too much.)

I 'd be happy if we sent out Rondo to OKC for Jackson and Adams and some pieces.
