Question: Hypothetically if the Lakers end up with the third worst overall record but because the draft lottery has the teams with the 4th, 5th, and 7th worst records winning the top three spots and the Lakers end up selecting 6th, do they lose their pick to Phoenix?

Yes.  It's where the pick winds up, not what their regular season rank was.
That's what I thought. So as long as the Lakers do not finish with the worst or 2nd to worst record in the league, whether they keep that pick is most likely going to be determined by the luck of the lottery draw not where they finish in the pre-lottery standings.
very true.  the Lakers stink but I still think they'll end up with a better record than Philly, Utah, Orlando and the C's.  Question is if they'll catch anyone else or if they get the 5th worst record, will someone higher than them leapfrog them in the lottery drawing to send their pick to Phx.  For me, that would be he ultimate kick in the teeth for them and much deserved.  I just have an insane hatred of everything Laker

His decline will be noted in the annuals of basketball history as a guy who stayed too long.

Maybe it's homerism, but if the Lakers wind up with a better record than us I'll eat my hat.  We haven't looked great but they've been a complete dumpster fire and play in the tougher conference to boot.  Unless we dump off all our vets via trade I don't see it happening.

Yeah, I don't see any realistic way the Lakers finish with a better record than the Celtics.  Hell, the only team I'd put them over at the moment is Philly.  And I'm not even really a Celtics fan, so trust that isn't homerism when I say that.
