Does everyone agree that it would be [dang]ed near impossible for us to shoot as horrendously bad as we did last year. I'm talking about blown shots that were ridiculously easy including lay-ups. improvement in this area alone might have given us 7-10 wins.  link this with a break on injuries and I think this team is a lot better than you are giving it credit for!!!

Maybe if the Celtics added some shooters.  The Celtics have potentially the worst shooting backcourt in the NBA.

The Celtics still need some more talent.  The future flexibility and draft picks are the path to the right tunnel with the light at the end.  A little draft luck would help supercharge the green train.

The draft? Really? It hasn't worked for the Celtics this year, and I don't want to rely on it next year.

Why?  They added two more pieces of talent.  They have plenty more draft pick left to pick or use in trades.

How else are they going to add talent?

I agree.

Pretty sure Danny Ainge envisioned better than the no 6 pick in this year's draft when he dealt Pierce and KG last year.

Counting on the draft to improve your team is a total crap shoot.

Getting a lower pick than you hoped for doesn't mean you're not improving your team via the draft.  If Smart and/or Young become quality players, the draft worked.

And it might just mean no instant gratification.

I think the idea is to use the draft picks of _other_ teams and not worry about maximizing the Celtics _own_ pick.

I.E. - they have "plenty more draft pick left" from other teams that will not improve by tanking.

NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

Who said tanking?

I said the Celtics do not have enough talent.  That's not an attempt to be bad.  That is just a fact for teams that have made it to the top.  There is a sink down until the team can rebuild.  How far the team sinks depends on the spread of ages of the top players when they were on the top.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Our light that the end of the tunnel is Emmanuel Mudiay and Jahlil Okafor

lol tp
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

You asked "How else are they going to add talent?" in response to a comment referencing the Celtic's fortune's in last year's draft.

They have options for adding talent.  They have existing young players and they have lots of future picks that belong to other teams.  They could either trade some of those or they could wait and see if some of those other teams' picks vest into good players.   They also have tradable contract filler that if not moved will result in cap space.

As to how far a team has to 'sink' -- do you think this team is worse than last years?   Is it still 'sinking'?

When it (hopefully) starts to 'rise' instead of sink, are you expecting them to go right back to contender status all at once?  Or to go 'through the middle' on the way back up?
