  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Per 36 mins Jarred Sullinger:
*17.3 points 10.6 rebounds.
*coming off back surgery, and fairly overweight
*playing out of position
* being forced by coaching staff to 'develop' his three point shot and 16-19 foot jumper, and replace the 3.7 three pointers and 26% 3 point shots with 47 % 2 point FG efficient attempts.
These shots also hurt his rebounding numbers because it moves him out of the paint and reduced his rebounding % opportunities.

*Has lost 15 pounds
*playing his natural position PF and taking better % shots around the rim & subsequently increasing his rebounding opportunities and field goal %.

He needs another 2.4 rebounds per 36 minutes.

Anyone else think there's a decent chance we have a future top 5 rebounder in the NBA named Jarred Sullinger?

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

No
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

I think he'll still be encouraged to shoot it from deep, unfortunately.

I think Zeller will help his game and make him play inside more.  Anyone else recall how Butler used Matt Howard.

top 5 is a tall order.  I'd be thrilled if he can average over 9 per game at any point.

besides, our center 2 years from now will be in the top 5   ;)

I doubt it. 9 avg and 2-3 offensive is realistic

He will pull down 13 , 15 , 17 several times in the year though. Just cant do it consistently like drummond or zbo can

idk about top five, but what i said all along during the summer of love, is, why can't sully become a love like player.

Look at what you posted:  Per 36 mins Jarred Sullinger: 17.3 points and 10.6 rebounds, well, Kevin Love's second season per 36 was 17.7 points and 13.8 rebounds.

its why i wanted to keep love and the picks rather than dealing them.  i'm ok with the thought of a rebuild process.  it's also why, i'm ok with dealing rondo.

Not the "I think Sullinger will be a better player than Love" prediction, again ::)

Bc sully actually plays defense from start to finish and does not cheat for rebounds (stat pad)

I expect Sully to be a regular fixture in Top 10 or Top 15 rebounds (per game & total) during his NBA career. Getting into the Top 5 is something I could see him doing once or twice but not year in year out. Especially not if paired with a center who needs to hang around the paint (decreasing Sully's rebounding opportunities).

Sully is a Boozer-esque rebounder.

No

this was my initial reaction, but after reconsideration I do believe Sully has the rebounding knack and a perfect role model (Kevin Love) to look to for how to develop his body and game. I think he does have that potential should his back hold up.

Zeller and Oly can let him play the 4, where he should do his best work. I am optimistic now that it appears he is actually losing some weight. Homeboy has a very well rounded (no pun intended) set of skills. He should be able to be a good scorer, great rebounder and serviceable defender for the next 5 years.

Probably not.

If the Celtics get a true C that fits the need (Either a defensive dirty job guy or the overall star they need), they are likely to steal possible rebounds and the Celtics shooting % could go up (less offensive rebounds)

If the Celtics get a true C, Sully will like see a reduction in minutes to because of Olynyk and the new C sharing time.
