With all the crappy news around the world of sports, I thought this deserved a mention.  Despite the disappointment of losing the Duncan lottery, we got either the 2nd or 3rd best pick, depending on how you feel about T-Mac's peak vs his longevity and playoff success.  In a Pitinoless alternate reality, we might've gotten to see him realize that potential in green alongside Pierce, instead of making a series of other teammates look better instead.

Best wishes and happy retirement to one of the all time Really Good but Probably Not HOF-Worthy guys - Chauncey Billups.

as bad as the celtics looked for trading him so early, it's not like other teams didnt give up on him before he turned the corner.

I believe he left Toronto, Denver, and either came around in Phoenix or left Phoenix and came around in Minnesota

I still remember Paterno talking about his potential after drafting him.  He said that he was a SG in college and that we needed to be patient with him as it would take time for him to develop PG skills.  Then he traded him away midseason his rookie year.  I hate Paterno.

Wasn't Paterno the football coach who was sexually abusing young guys?

No, he's the football coach who was turning a blind eye to and/or covering up for the football coach who was sexually abusing young guys.

Whether that makes him better or worse than Celtics anti-legend Rick Pitino is up to you.

Paterno was also the guy who joked to reporters about having to go home and beat his wife.  Yeah, Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. that guy.

I was just going to ask that question.  Dumars got in with similar stats and achievements, but how Sidney Moncrief has not yet made it in to the HOF is beyond me.

When Chauncey got bought out by the Knicks before the start of the 11-12 season I was really hoping that Danny would sign him bc he would have been great behind Rondo and Ray, and it would have been cool to see him finish his career in green, especially with his buddy KG :)  Along with missing out on David West, and, to a lesser extent, Michael Redd, not signing Mr. Big Shot really sucked.  Oh well.
