What does this mean? He's not replacing Mike Gorman, is he?

No, I believe he's going to join the team as an analyst similar to what he did before but on a more full time basis.  He'll probably work in the studio on home games and in place of Tommy on road games.

I will be the young Comcast SportsNet announcer in the booth next to the legendary Mike Gorman and learn from the greatest color analyst in the game Mr. Tommy Heinsohn.

Besides, Scal will provide color, he's not a PBP guy.

I like Cousy the best and Cowens.
Scal is ok.
At least he is better than Maxwell.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Remember when Boston lost to the Lakers in game 7 and Scal said they would have won if they played him more.

This is even funnier than that.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
First of all, I wish Scal had a Celticsblog account, because that guy would get a million TPs from me for that letter.

Second, and a little more serious, I wonder what his goals are with the Cs. Marc Jackson didn't really like him much, but management liked scal as a coach in Golden State as I recall, I wonder if he's only doing this for a year or two, or if he's hoping to be groomed as Tommy's replacement (which is basically like someone replacing Letterman or something, it can be a life-time gig).

While I haven't read Lebron's write up, this is outstanding, and definitely worthy of the Onion lol.  Awesome.  I didn't think Scal was even good as a broadcaster, though, but then again, I've been spoiled by Mike and Tommy.  Max is irritating because of his overuse of the word basketball (as in holding onto the basketball, rebounding the basketball, etc), but at least we don't have to deal with Tanguay behind the mic.  I remember a game he did in 06-07 against Orlando, I believe, and every play was announced like it was the most amazing pass, shot, move, etc. in NBA history.  God he was awful lol.  Who was worse, Tanguay or Donny Marshall always beginning his postgame 'analysis' with, "it's interesting," after every game.  What a duo they were ::)  Ugh.

TP for the post, btw ;D

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

When did he say that, and did he even play in game 7?  I only remember his postgame press conference after game 6 in 08, when he said something like, "in 20 years, people will think that I started on that team," or something like that lol ;D

Regardless, welcome home Scal ;D

Edit - he did play in game 7.  In fact, that was the only time he played in the entire playoffs ;D and it was for a whopping 51 seconds lol.  Oh yeah, he definitely would have been the difference ::) and yes, I know that he was joking haha.

Sidebar - when you do a google search for Scal, the 'people also search for' lists, in order, Mark Jackson (I really don't see a connection between the two, last season aside), Matt Bonner (really?  Comparing the white mamba to another white guy lol?), Kwame Brown (ouch), Luke Walton (again, another white guy?), and Perk (bahaha).

Momma there goes that man ::)

Agree, TP for dos for posting the whole thing. That sounds like Scal, I think he wrote it not Grande. Anyway, Scal is a True Green Celtic.  Glad to have him back in the area, sounds like a good family man who really cares about the city and the people.

If Grande wrote/transcribed it, his name would've most likely appeared on the byline. No reason they'd let that sort of thing go unattributed when its not April 1st.
