Teams have too much invested in certain individuals for this. It's stupid from an investment standpoint. Hopefully teams restrict their most important nba assets from participating in non nba events. It's insane honestly.Indiana just lost lance and potentially paul George on five weeks! Are you kidding me?! Their 2014-15 season is done if he's out!Yo if this is theisman type stuff then id never let players play in "charity" games! Stupid. Just dumb.… this could've happened anywhere. Literally anywhere. Are you going to propose that the NBA ban players from offseason pickup games, too?Yes. If I'm an owner.. Yes.I pay you a fifth my salary cap to lead my team to a title. To sell jerseys. To fill my stadium. Not to sit on the bench in a suit. It's business... That's all. I'd guess that every healthy player in the league plays basketball in the offseason. We see videos of Celts players doing it all the time.

The risk vs reward for having the best players compete in non nba activities is not worth it.Imagine if this was rondo after 2010? Imagine if after game 7 rondo went and hurt himself to where he was out all of 2011 and our chances of contention go up in flames? This blog and Celtic nation would lose it.
The whole thing shouldn't be nixed because of one bad injury. This could've happened during an NBA game.

I was always opposed to Rondo playing for team USA in 2010. The Celts played through the finals, which gives them a short offseason to begin with. Rondo spent the bulk of his time off with team USA instead of recovering from the grueling season. I don't think his injury-plagued 2011 season was unrelated to this. Aside from that, though, the player's contracts will forbid certain dangerous activities but not all athletic activities.

Maybe the stanchion was closer than in the NBA, but in an NBA I hate how the camera people are sitting down so close to the basket. I always felt that is a serious injury waiting to happen.

Players performing poorly the season after a long stint on team USA isn't exactly unheard of. The ones that go deep in the playoffs are generally better off with the break. Spending that time on team USA means they're almost playing 2 seasons in a row without a break.
Cuban then reiterated his longstanding criticism of the NBA's agreement with FIBA, which stipulates that only players themselves can refuse their country's invite to play for the national team except in the event of a "reasonable medical concern." The San Antonio Spurs invoked that clause this week to prevent Manu Ginobili from representing Argentina at FIBA's upcoming Basketball World Cup thanks to the lingering effects of a stress fracture."The (International Olympic Committee) is playing the NBA. But teams take on huge financial risk so that the IOC committee members can line their pockets.
"The greatest trick ever played was the IOC convincing the world that the Olympics were about patriotism and national pride instead of money. The players and owners should get together and create our own World Cup of Basketball."
