@GoodmanESPN because trading our best player gets us out of the lottery?

@celticsblog Nope. It may help attract free agents, though.

@GoodmanESPN I've never seen anything to indicate that players (not named Ray Allen) wouldn't want to play with Rondo? Where's that from?

@celticsblog From me talking to numerous players around the league.
8:55 AM - 17 Jul 2014

Goodman later said that he would not drop any names, as the conversations he had with players who don’t want to play with Rondo were off the record.

Eh, whatever.  Free agents are almost always going to take the most money for starters.  I'm sure every players has other players who wouldn't want to play with him, when said anonymously to a journalist.

I don't believe keeping or trading Rondo has any bearing on whether or not free agents want to come to Boston.

Money talks....you know the rest.

@vbamz @celticsblog Not biased. Just not as much of a fan of Rondo as many. I’m hardly alone, either. Call some of his former coaches.

Not hard to believe. Opinions on Rondo differ widely. Makes sense players would follow suit. For some guys, Rondo is a major attraction. For others, not an attraction.

The money is equal when it comes to top FAs. Max contracts. Everybody has the same offer.

It's the basketball situation that you control and can differ yourself from rival bids. That is where Ainge has to establish Boston as major attraction. Recent Championship runs help. Rondo helps.

For the rest of the FAs, money talks. You can separate yourself from the pack with larger offers. For guys in that $10-14 million range. Or role players below that price. But the top guys, the max money guys, it's the same (financially) offer everywhere. It's the basketball situation that separates bids.

It could be an issue though, if the money is the same.

I don't think Rondo is exactly revered around the league. That doesn't mean players don't respect his game, but not sure if too many would want to interact with him daily.

Sounds like his "sources" stem from his own perception of Rondo?

As the Reds Army guys said, if this is true why wouldn't he write an article about it.  Seems like a story that'd get some decent hits in the NBA off season.

Depending on the player you ask it could be true (as well as with other players). I'm sure there were a lot of players that didn't want to come to the team because of Kg especially with his reputation for being one of the most hated. There are also players (Lebron and Kobe) and coaches (in particular Bird and Pop) that are on record saying some very good things about Rondo. It just depends on who you ask and how you ask the question.

excellent point. can't make an article on baseless rumors...or at least not creative enough.

What's the point of keeping Rondo now.  He's coming off injury, will be close to his prime in a few years and will ask for the max soon.  Oh and has a bunch of kids around him.  Can't wait till we move on, and i love Rondo on this team, but I think we can get more like Goodman said with him being gone.

well sure maybe he asked 10 players and he is talking about the 2 that didn't like him.  That said, I can certainly see why players wouldn't want to play with Rondo.

My sources tell me that nobody wants to work with Jeff Goodman and that he's nothing but a slanderous Cyber goon who knows nothing about basketball and can't write in complete sentences.
