Yes, but I would rather see some "fireworks"
5 (15.6%)
Meh, I don't see this going anywhere, but I can't say we have better options
4 (12.5%)
This is unacceptable. We are the Celtics and need to compete every year !!!

This is the NBA. Rebuilds rarely ever happen quickly in this league.

But Morey did it!!!
Oh, wait....

He did it without bottoming out.

If you're into first round exits.

Still he managed to make the Rockets competitive.

And up until 2013, so were the Celtics for a 5-6 year span.

It's cyclical and it'll happen again.   Just don't expect Summer '07 all over again.  That whole quick rebuild was an exception, not the norm.

I think some people on here get so wrapped up with the idea that since we did it in summer '07, we can do the same thing again.    Something like that doesn't happen very often, if ever.

Time to start burning jerseys at the Lucky sacrifice stone.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Wondering what attendance will be like tis year if they go full-on tank and get rid of Rondo and Green. I think it takes a huge hit, They seem pretty desperate already to get season ticket holders, I gave up my tickets before last season because my son was going off to college. They have called/emailed me at least 5 times trying to get me back. Way more than they contacted me last year.

Any regrets on that decision, by the way?

Not really. Went to almost all of the games with my son since he was like 8-years-old. It was tremendous fun and a great bonding experience over the years. It just wouldn't be the same without him. So now I go to the occasional game and watch the rest on TV.

We wiffed on Asik, and Affalo.  Failed to go after jordan hill, let lance stephenson go and signed avery and Tyler.  I think this organization is fully focused on a rebuild, and I don't mind at all, as long as that's the goal and I dont have to keep hearing about a situation brewing again like in 2007-2008 where Danny trades away all the good talent.  I'm ready to watch a nice young team develop.

I completely disagree I think the wyc and danny are still in the mindset of trying to make this team a legitimate contender this season or next. otherwise we probably would have probably traded Rondo to sacramento already.

the only reasons to not trade Rondo now are because we still have dreams of this. or because we think we can get more for Rondo at the deadline if he plays well.

there is no reason to keep Rondo if we're rebuilding because he likely won't want to stay, he's really not worth a max deal on a team in transition. keeping him past the deadline and taking a chance he'll re-sign is a stupid gamble. if he plays well before the deadline we need to trade him.

Thye'll showcase him, trade him at the deadline then tank the rest of the year.  We'll have more assets and maybe some younger players in addition

because that's the logical thing to do. but, and i'm not saying wyc and danny are being illogical but they could and thus far seem completely reluctant in going full-on rebuild mode and make the mistake of holding onto Rondo past the deadline in the hopes he'll re-sign and still hoping they can still trade for players to surround him with. this team doesn't need Rondo on a max deal with no other stars on top of it.

we need to fully commit to a full rebuild or actually get deals done to make us a legit contender. none of this one foot on one side and the other foot on the other side. it'd be one thing if we had a player like pierce to build around but we don't, rondo isn't.

He did what, exactly?
A skeptic would say he has been on the verge of completing a rebuild for.... the entire time he has been there. I'm not trying to knock him (I've done that before), I'm just pointing out that the glory boy himself has struggled mightily to rebuild. And this is with good weather and favorable tax codes.
The point is a simple one: it is *really* hard to rebuild. Sometimes it never happens. It would be a miracle if it happened in a year or two. Lighting struck once in summer '07. It won't happen again any time soon.
Celtics fan for life.
