this thread is something else  ::)

This is what they get for believing into Wyc's "fireworks" speech despite he and Danny warning them to temper their excitement.

You just don't understand the mindset of long suffering fans who haven't seen their team in even an Eastern Conference final game 7 in over two years.
Careful about assuming what others do and do not understand.  If you are bummed over 2 years then you clearly have not suffered very long.  Do you remember the 1986 championship? I do, very well.  Along with many others, I had to wait from 1986 to 2007.  We had to suffer through the Gaston years, through the Pitino years, many mediocre coaches like Chris Ford and Jimmy Rodgers.  THAT was suffering.

I dont understand where the high expectation for a quick rebuild came from. Rebuilding in the NBA takes a long time and a fair amount of luck.

There is one star somewhat available on the market - Kevin Love. And the Wolves dont want what the Celtics have. Yet Ainge is staying on their ear. I believe There were 2 fireworks plans - get Love or win a top 3 lottery pick. Luck failed them in the lottery. And last time I checked the Love situation hasn't resolved.

Until another star becomes available, and the Celtics have an enticing trade piece as well as a winning team, we have no choice but to stay the course.

Draft well, trade well, dont make a desperate move, and keep developing our guys. Such is the reality of rebuilding in the NBA.

.....and the best player in the NBA left to go home and play in CLE - great move for him, but maybe placed himself a year or two away from another championship.

The best player also lost 4-2 in the NBA finals - to the same team that beat him in 07.

Perspective. ;)

Let Danny do his job. He hasn't failed us and won't.

And - I should add - there is no end in sight - at least not to my eyes (but please relieve my depression). There do not seem to be any free agents that will want to play here; our best player (Rondo) is likely to be shipped out of town sooner rather than later; and although there are some inspiring center prospects, and Emmanuel Mundiay in the upcoming draft - after Duncan/Oden/Wiggins - I have just completely lost faith that we will ever win a draft lottery.

I'm thrilled with the course this team is taking. What I'm not thrilled about is Marcus Smart. The Celtics need to bottom out and rebuild by trading Rondo. I assure you that no top Free Agent will ever sign with Boston. It makes no sense with the night life and the talent in Miami LA and NYC. Boston has no endorsement opportunities. Zero appeal to players.

Yes, that's why KG and Ray and PP all bolted in 2010 when they were free agents.

I love how you leave out that they were acquired via trade. Not by free agency. No big name FA has or ever will sign with Boston.

Are you kidding me??  1957, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1974, 1976, 1981, 1984, 1986, 2008,  we won the title everyone of those years!!  Come on man we all want to win every year but what team has had more success than the Celtics!!  No franchise can always be dominant. There will be down years!! That is true in any sport.  Most other nba fans would give anything to have the success we have enjoyed.  Just sit back and enjoy the Celtics, if we won the title every year it would get boring!!

We have 5 maybe 6 first round picks coming in the next two years.

Danny has done a great job.

When has Boston ever have capspace to sign free agents?

So people on a sports website, with no real inside information or privileges don't see a end game or plan... shocking.  ::)

Just b/c "you" don't have a clue what's going on doesn't mean there isn't direction. Danny probably has MANY different scenarios. He's just in the process of bringing one/mixture of those plans to life.

I'm not sure 07 was as lucky a thing as people seem to think it was... it was hard work and putting yourself in the position for "luck" to happen. You don't luck into championships. If you could luck into them, Cleveland might already have 3-4 of them.

We will never know the end game or even the path to it until it's smacking us in the face. A lot of things between now and then won't work out as planned but that's why the better GMs have backups to their backup plans. I don't know what he's doing but I like the start of it. I'll be patient b/c it's rare to go from bad to good quickly, people need to step out of the fantasy in their mind! You can blame Wyc all you want but he isn't the GM, he doesn't actually have to get the other team or players to agree to what he wants.

It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I actually really enjoy the rebuilding process...always have. And I do not know of any team that has the long term health of the celtics. Its only been one year.

I like it to. Theres something about not being completely stressed out about every game or loss Like I was during the PP/KG/RA run.

It's fun to see the young guys do well, and succeed from time to time. Like watching your kids. It drives you nuts when they don't do well, because you don't like to see them fail, but you love them anyways, and cheer louder when they do well.

I mean don't get me wrong, I'd take competing over rebuilding every day. But what I saw last season, was a new form of C's basketball. New coach bringing in his way to play. And when they played well, they really looked good and it was fun basketball. I don't know how many Doc games even winning ones were boring and frustrating.

I think thats the biggest thing right now. DA is finding players that will fit in Stevens style. And you just can't throw people in and hope they can figure it out. And I really can't wait to see what Steven can do with players that will play his style of ball.

This. The type of players that the OP deems to be acceptable don't grow on trees and aren't usually for free. We were coming to the end of an era where we hadn't picked higher than #19 in several years, and our cap space was tied up with the players responsible for our contention. I'm not sure how we were supposed to reload immediately. I guess you could decry Ainge's inability to pull a rabbit out of a hat.....after that, I think you need to be realistic about the situation.

I've been pretty patient through this rebuild, but if we get another guard under 6"4 who can't shoot, or another sub par frontcourt player that isn't a center, I'm going to scream.

I don't mind it either. Danny's got us set up for next several years and I rather see us do nothing, than sign an average player that will clog up our cap space. Danny's making calls but he's not going to do a panic trade just so the Cs can win 35 games and get bounced in the first round. I just want see the young guys plays, assess their value, and I don't expect to see a lot of wins. Top 3 pick next year + a most likely a top 10 pick from Brooklyn and cap space, Danny can make some moves. Def gotta be patient.

Just be happy we're not in the Lakers or even the Knick's position.

For the one millionth time, the Celtics have never had the cap space to go after a big name free agent!

Doesn't mean we should go through another 22 year championship drought, does it?
