I wanted fireworks and wiggins before last season but it didn't happen. I am so much happier about the celtics and where they are right now than I was a year ago. I think With KO,Sulky,Smart ,AB and Young we have something to build on and if one of them has a breakout year it just gives us more options in the future. I wanted to win a championship this year but it juat didn't fall right and I would rather make no moves than the wrong move. I am SO much more excited coming into this year than last and that is what it is about for me.

If we hit on Smart & Young then the future is much brighter. I like them but wonder if we'll be happy with those picks in 2 to 3 years time. There was a lot of talent in this draft. Hard to predict who's going to be a star and who isn't.

That said, I am optimistic about the C's future and was last season as well. We've got a core of good young talent (Rondo, Avery, Jeff, Sully, KO, Zeller, Smart?, Young?), trade assets (Thornton, Bogans) and a butt load of picks. We are teed up to have an interesting / exciting year watching our current guys develop with Stevens and have tons of potential to make moves and sign a key FA next summer.

It's Danny's second rebuild. He's already amassed tons of 'chips' that we can either keep or trade.

Well yeah... we certainly have more assets. We got Marcus Smart at #6... some other marginal assets. We have more pieces.

But as the dust settles on this offseason, you always have to weigh what other teams have done when gauging the future of the Celtics. With Philly building the foundation for an epic young team... and with the Cavs on the verge of forming a super-team that will rule the league for the foreseeable future, I'm not sure really what we can expect here.

I have faith in Ainge, but my hopes are low. We might scratch together a couple 40+ win seasons, but I'm not seeing us contending anytime soon.

One plays PG, is 6'4" and 220 pds. Yet still only 20 yrs of age. That's a straight hog beast ready to dominate. Sign me up.

The other plays SG, is 6'7", & has a 7' wingspan. Yet still only 18 yrs of age. Whose preventing that kid from shooting the rock ?

Usually the same old adage is used when you draft a 20 year old and an 18 year old...." gotta wait until these bodies develop on these youngsters".....nope, can't say that with these 2. Those are 2 outstanding NBA bodies ALREADY !

Heck, I don't care about Summer League, the stats, the ladies in vegas, etc. I'll take those 2 any day of the week, and twice on Sunday. It's about putting in the work now, developing them the correct way. It will ultimately be up to them on how dedicated they want to be, and how much they're willing to work.

I don't care who any of you wanted, its not like you got 2 players with low ceilings. The sky is definitely the limit for both, and with NBA bodies and then some, these 2 young pups could reach their peak sooner rather than later.

I couldn't be more excited. Couple that with the amount of assets our GM as accumulated, what more could we ask for at this stage in the game ?

Yeah, TP man. I'm actually astounded at how well Danny's done converting an old broken down contender to a young budding roster with more draft picks than we can possibly use in the next four years. Sky's the limit for the rebuild if Danny works it wisely.

It's simply amazing to think of all the assets at his disposal. From picks, to expiring's, to the youth on the roster. He's set us up pretty darn well and still people doubt him, what he's doing, etc.

I don't understand it to be honest. The next step in the process is a hard one, because you're dependent on what other teams want, need, can do, etc. You have to find partner's for your assets, but I think we have the best GM for that job. He's got an excellent relationship with just about everyone in the biz, whether it's other GM's, agents, etc. He'll get the job done, no question.

Obviously, Cleveland has hit the jackpot. Three #1's in 4 years and LeBron returning as a free agent is astounding luck. But I like our chances vs Philly.

Unless Embiid and/or Noel turn into megastars (and they might), they won't likely be as good as us any time soon. They might be down one 1st rounder next year, while we have 5-6 extra first rounders stacked up. They have two guys with major upside, but neither has done a thing other than get hurt so far. Our chances are better.

It's true that if Ainge doesn't turn some of these assets into an all-star player we are going to be stuck in the middle class, but he should get a shot at it in the next year or so. Next year's draft has several big guys. Even if all he does is get one of those, we have a tough young team that is worth rooting for.

Coming in to last season I would say a great deal of us thought Jeff Green was going to take the next step in his game. It turned out that Jeff was more effective as a starter when PP and KG were on the team. I'm hoping again this year that he can take that step because he has better talent around him, but not the depth.

I think we have a very bright future.

James Young was the 3rd youngest player drafted this year. Don't forget he has an 8'8'' standing reach and almost 36'' vertical(will get much better over a year). His 8'8'' standing reach and 7' wingspan is what allowed him to dunk over the entire UCONN front court in the National Championship.

I still think Rondo's greatest value is here on this team. With the amount of assets and expiring contracts we have, he is the greatest bait for a potential FA or traded star player to go to Boston.

All that aside, no one's more valuable to a young coach and a young team than a veteran, all-star PG.

Yeah, considering the value attached by other teams to our "assets" thus far, I concur that a LONG dry spell is ahead of us.

I have no hopes of relevancy any time soon.

TP. I love the optimism.
Danny's got a ton of chips, including future draft picks and young talent. It will be a while before we know how good, if at all, is the talent. I think we'll suck this year. But I do think the fiuture is bright.

Here's my prediction:
Cs sign Rondo to an extension
Cs trade Jeff Green at February trade deadline to a contender for picks and talent.
Cs make a splash trade for an All star on draft night 2015.
