I get why the Danny did the 3-way deal in getting Zeller and Thornton to boost the Celtics portfolio of assets, AND lessen the viable options for Cleveland in a trade with Minny for KLove.
But didn’t Flip say he wanted established vets? Last time I checked, Wiggins IS a rookie, unless Cleveland can pull a 3rd team into a trade, I don’t see how Minnesota (according to Flip) is going to make the playoffs with a starting lineup of Rubio, Kmartin, Wiggins, Player X and Pekovic?
Isn’t a trade with the Celtics & Indiana more viable INCLUDING a host of draft picks? (see story here: http://www.celticsblog.com/2014/7/8/5879815/boston-could-realistically-acquire-kevin-love-from-minnesota-in-three-way-celtics-indiana-stephenson

Wiggins

Either you go playoffs without your best player in Love, or you go for another rebuild in Wiggins

i HIGHLY agree with this logic. No team is offering a better "rebuilding package" than the celtics.. tons of draft picks and tons of expiring contracts, heck even throw in Jeff Green if you want a vet.  If you wanna rebuild, here's your chance.

The only team offering a veteran, win-now package is Golden State with Klay and David Lee. But that's been a relatively quiet deal since it was first reported a few weeks back.

But didn’t Flip say he wanted established vets?

He hasn't said anything publicly, but my belief is that he wants players who will contribute immediately with his goal being to end the Timberwolves' playoff drought as soon as possible.   You may think he is being stupid in doing so, but I think he'd rather try to win with Kevin Love rather than take a rebuilding package of future assets that does nothing to help the team win more games in the next couple of seasons.
