Rondo and Avery developed their shots

He'll be fine. His problematic shooting seems to all be due to bad mechanics. Very fixable

he takes a lot of ill-advised shots...but he understands that is his weakness and said in his interviews he will work to improve it. I believe in him. I better have my player understands his pros and cons and wanting to fix them vs, knowing his pros and cons and not care about fixing them

who was it that said "I know defense is my weakness, but at the end of the day, you win the game by putting up the most points"

I think his natural form is okay. It's not terrible. Shooting will come. Defense, ball handling, driving, slashing, cutting hustling ought to make him valuable day 1.

I think he will eventually be able to shoot well, but not until his second or third year in the league.

CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Can I have an option where I do think he's a bad shooter, but I'm not worried about it?

Might as well get started early with Smart, and get him a shooting specialist teacher to shadow him all summer.

This is where I'm at right now. Also, from what I've seen so far in Summer League (which I can tell is where the worry is stemming from), this has been more of a problem with shot selection more than anything.

I'm really not worried about his shot per say (I think his form is solid and should come along) but his shot selection from three is horrible.  It's young D Wade out there.

And I don't mind him taking threes to try to improve and get confident, just take the open and easy ones.  Not a fan of the tough off balance pull ups he has been doing in summer league.

Not really a concern at the moment. If we don't see any type of improvement from him in the next couple of years, then yeah, you should be worried. But until then, we should be more concerned with having him fit into the squad and grow as a player (and person). He strikes me as a hard worker so I would believe that we will see some improvement in his shot. How much remains to be seen. We've seen examples like Bradley and Parker come in with poor shots and improve to average/above average shooters. So, time will tell.

The odd thing about his shot selection too is that he seems like such a heady player otherwise.  But I suppose that means he should come around, either to improving his shot a lot or to wising up and abandoning it or taking it when he's only wide open.

I noticed he can hit it some from the left elbow extended at the three point line.  I saw him hit one and one get blown off because of a foul off the ball there, yesterday.

It is early, he is just transitioning to the pro range.  I do not know if he will ever be a "pure" shooter though.   I think he is a better shooter but worse finisher than Rondo.

too early to get worried.... shooting can be developed...
but his other skills like defense and heart are already there which is harder to develop even for the seasoned NBA players....
