Wow. Such an odd move for the Magic. I guess they're gonna try and win some games next year...

They might be trying to avoid falling into the Cleveland/Kyrie Irving trap.

A lot of raises this summer.  We'll see what Ariza gets.

Such a weird deal. Part of me thinks they did it just to raise the market value of other FAs so it's harder for some teams to get their target. Honestly. That's what I think. I can't think of another reason why Orlando of all teams would give Frye a four year deal, let alone a deal worth $30+ million. They won't be competing within the next four years so Frye just locked himself up for straight cash. Really wish Vucevic was on another team so we could see just how good he really is (from a competitive team standpoint). I know he's had monster games versus the Heat in recent years.

No way that is all guaranteed money.

If it is this and the Gordon deal might be the worse deals given out thus far and both from the same team

Are we sure they actually fired Otis Smith?

The NBA loves 4s that can stretch out to the 3 point line. I figured someone was gonna give Frye that kind of money. i am just glad it isn't the Celtics.

Interesting: Frye and Tobias Harris are cousins. Did not know that.

If not for his age, I'd consider this easily a contract with good value for an underrated player.

Channing Frye sucks. Not worth this money even if he was young, which he isn't. Terrible.

Pointless signing for a team so far away from doing anything.

Too much money tied up in a role player.

  • Let's Go Celtics!
Orlando is clearly trying to add shooters with this signing and the Ben Gordon signing... Still, I'm not quite sure what they're doing. They drafted Aaron Gordon even though they have Tobias Harris. And then they sign Channing. That's a lot of PF's needing minutes. Unless they see Channing as a 5 and in that case, can we steal Vucevic from them?
