Very hard enviosining a team giving him that. But there's plenty of cap room around and some teams willing to compete now that the big 2014 NBA Draft has come and gone and all the big free-agents are free-agents in this season. When teams swing and miss, there could be opportunity somewhere.

But to suggest that Pierce is solely worth a MLE level contract is a bit foolish. This guy was plenty productive last year, and played quite well during the playoffs.
Projecting him aging further and declining further and he's definitely and MLE type player. No longer a high level starting player.

So you're saying he wants a contract that just barely fits into our trade exception?  ;)

Can Player A be traded to Team B resulting in Team A getting a TPE, and then less than 1 year later, Team B signing and trading Player A back to Team A whereby they use that same TPE???

Thats in line with Dirk and Duncan.

I expect him to be back with KG in Brooklyn.

If not I could see ATL as a option if they miss out of Deng. PP, Milsap, Horford with Korver off the bench seems like a solid fit.

Could OKC maybe fit him in as 6th man? That could be amazing. Maybe a 3 way deal where Cs eat Perks contract plus get a pick, PP to OKC and Nets get some sort of asset from OKC

That would be ironic, if the trade exception we got for Pierce were used to help him go from Brooklyn to OKC.

That's certainly a concern, but his level of play last year was quite high. After a slow start he finished the season very strong and was one of the best players for the Nets in the playoffs. Only Joe Johnson was better and he had a monster playoffs from an en efficiency standpoint.

So as it is, he's currently quite worth that price tag. How one projects him going forward then that's an issue, but so far he's been shutting up pretty much all doubters.

can't reacquire a player for one year.  TPE lasts one year, so I don't think it is possible.

If Dallas misses on bigger names, maybe that would be a fun fit.

PP and Dirk together. I like that idea.

I think they can...

"A team cannot reacquire a player they traded away during that season (a season being July 1 - June 30). If he is waived by his new team, then he cannot re-sign with his original team until the one-year anniversary of the trade, or until the July 1 following the end of his contract, whichever comes first. However, if a team trades a player's draft rights, they can reacquire the player during the same season."

Pierce is angling for one of those teams that cleared cap space to make a run at Melo/Lebron only to come up short.

I dont think thats unreasonable. He'll still be bettwr than Jeff Green and Trevor Ariza the next couple years.

There are still only a few guys i would take over Pierce at his position

I thought Pierce was quite bad in the playoffs. He had an ideal matchup against Amir Johnson and frequently failed to capitalize on it.

Playing out of position at PF meant he was a liability as a defender and rebounder. The lack of help from PF position given to Garnett, Blatche and/or Plumlee allowed Valanciunas and other Raptors bigs to profit and look much better than they actually are.

When Pierce played at SF, Brooklyn had major team speed problems. Pierce slow player. Team defense isn't what it used to be and his man-to-man defense goes up and down like a yo-yo. Never know which Pierce will show up defensively (man-to-man). Bad version or good version.

I think Pierce should become a backup SF next season. $4-5 million.

Have the Lakers shown any interest in Pierce?  The Knicks?
