Ekpe Udoh, Jordan Hill, Ed Davis.

All 3 about 6-9 in bare feet, around 9' standing reach, very athletic.

What will each demand in free agency?  6 mil for Davis or Hill?  4 mil for Udoh?

If we signed 2 of them, or signed one of them and traded for Biyombo-

How many wins is this team capable of:

Hill or Davis, Udoh
Sullinger, Olynyk
Green, Young
Smart, Bradley
Rondo

I really think having two different guys that can block shots and attack the offensive glass would make a big difference.  If Smart could evolve into a go-to scorer and Green can be a 2nd option- this could be a 45 win team in the East with a healthy Rondo.

I like Gortat, Monroe may be too similar to Sullinger-and not good on defense.

Neither Moneoe or Gortat are cheap.

IMO all a move like this would do is make us just good enough to get a mediocre draft pick in 2015.  I'd rather roll with some stop gaps this year, be terrible, then attack a 2015 off-season (which has some intriguing center options) with a good draft pick and additional cap room.

I'd like to have Oden for the vet minimum. Yeah yeah injury prone, not the same guy, I know. I'd just like to see him get consistent play (20 mins) and see what he can add. He's not playing in Miami. He could contribute more than he is, maybe now that he's gotten through a season with no injuries.

Also, Blatche. Pretty cheap and useful.

Emeka if he's healthy would be perfect. Leadership galore.

None of those guys are good (or even adequate) options as starting center.

I would just keep Sully at C alongside someone at PF over playing one of those players at center.

Are you referring to the OP, or everyone mentioned in the thread?

In any case, in general... did anyone watch Oden enough last year to give a good assessment? Stats wise, and highlights wise, he seemed to look better to me than I had anticipated.

But I just didn't see him play all that much.

Our bigs are unathletic.  We need guys like this at center, even if they avg a combined 8 PTs and 11 Rebs in 40-42 minutes.  Energy, defense, shotblocking.

They would allow Sullinger and Olynyk to focus more on offense.

Getting a mediocre draft pick isn't terrible, letting Smart and the other young guys grow while we show Rondo we want to win would help more than tanking.  A year from now, if Smart/Green turn into a good 1-2 punch, Danny will be in a good position.  Wallace will only have a year left at that point.  With all those draft picks, we would be in a better position to bring in a better option at SF or PF.

The ones mentioned by OP -- Ed Davis, Jordan Hill and Ekpe Udoh

I didn't think Oden looked mobile enough to start anymore. I liked enough of what I saw to think he deserves a regular backup center role somewhere role but I don't think he is athletic enough anymore to start.

Double negative!

It's simple math. Ekpe Udoh it is.

Nenad Krstic.

Is Krstic really any better than Olynyk in terms of defense + rebounding?

Likely not. But because Boston still has his Bird Rights, Krstic wouldn't expend much in terms of means by which to improve the roster elsewhere.
