Pelicans don't want Gordon and the don't want to pay Anderson 8 mil as a backup PF.
They need SF, and they desire a first round pick. Wallace and Green and 17th pick for Gordon and Wallace.
They save almost 4 million a year in salaries based on swapping Gordon's deal for Wallace.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=myvarovDrafting Gordon, or even Randle at #6 would go well as a SF in a big lineup with Anderson at PF. Gordon could guard SFs while helping on the offensive glass. Anderson will be hovering around the perimeter.
Gordon isn't ideal at SG given his history, but Wallace isn't ideal either. What if something clicks.
Keep Bradley as Gordon insurance. Sign PJ Tucker with MLE and Francisco Garcia with LLE. Those two along with Anderson give us outstanding shooting.
This works well with drafting Embiid at #6 as well. It would make getting Tucker with MLE even more important.
Rondo. Pressey
EGordon. Bradley. Garcia
AGordon. Tucker
Anderson. Sullinger Bass
Olynyk. Faverani. Iverson
Center would be priority going into next draft. If Embiid wS drafted, SF would be more of a priority next year.
We could use this trade as a precursor for going after DeAndre Jordan. Could we use our TPE for him and throw in Sullinger and 2 future draft picks? Can we send them Bogans/Faverani in the deal and take back Barnes and Dudley? Wouldn't need Tucker then.
Rondo. Pressey
EGordon. Bradley. Garcia?
AGordon. Barnes. Dudley
Anderson. Bass
Jordan. Olynyk
That frees up Clippers to chase Lebron. Rondo/Jordan/AGordon would be a nasty triple attack surrounded by shooters.
