So is Chicago really in the lead for Love?

Yes if their offer includes gibson, butler, rights to mirotic and one or two 2014 1sts.

Mirotic is coming over next season. He wants to play in the nba

Wolves can even trade pek and rubio for another very good player or pg.

Lineup potential

Dieng
Gibson
Mitoric
Butler
Bledsoe via trade or trade 13 and bulls pick for marcus smart

Mirotic might not even come over, especially to a lottery-bound Minny team. He also has a buyout and would probably want a decent contract. Not to mention nobody knows how good he'll be. The only really good player in the lineup is Bledsoe, who just showed up on their roster for no reason, and the alternative is a team with a pick near ours giving it up for two picks in the mid-teens.

Please explain to me how a 29 year old Taj Gibson is better then Jared Sullinger.

Someone, please.

Gibson: 28.7mpg, 13.0ppg, 6.8rpg , 29 Years Old
Sully   : 27.6mpg, 13.3ppg, 8.1rpg , 22 years Old

You MIGHT be able to argue that Gibson is better, because of his defense? But doesnt he play with Noah and for Thibs? I mean come on.

There is ZERO argument that Gibson has more value then Sully.

The Bulls stand 0 chance at getting Love. Their picks are LAUGHABLE compared to ours.

Mirotic wants to come to the NBA to play with the Bulls, but does he want to come play in Minnesota?

Why would Phoenix let Bledsoe go? They do have his RFA rights...

#13 and #16 aren't going to be enough to trade up to where Marcus Smart is going to be drafted.
Mirotic wants to be a starter more than anything. Minny will grant him that wish

You seem to be quite the expert on Mirotic. The couple of articles I've read about him said things like "wants to be on a winning team" and "won't make a huge contribution right away".

I think mostly it's Sully's fat ass and bad back.

In the 2013-2014 Sullinger has twice as many games with 19 points or more then Taj Gibson.

In the 2013-2014 Sullinger had 29 games with 9+ rebounds, Taj Gibson only had 19 games with 9 or more rebounds.

But dont worry Gibson can play defense which isn't at all helped by Thibs system or playing beside Noah. Right?

Gibson can not produce like Sully can, he's solid, he's consistent, but he is not as good as Sullinger.

Sullinger has the ability to put up 20/10 numbers and Gibson simply does not.  Not to mention the 7 years difference between them.....

Honestly what is going on here.  Why is ANYONE saying Gibson is better? Im baffled.

Sully's back is fine is it not? He got surgery and hasnt missed time since for it, correct?

And Look at Kevin Love, he was fat the first 2 years in the league also.

Also, if Sully is Fat and Injured but still able to out produce Taj Gibson, isn't that just more credit to Sully?

I'd argue that it is possible that the Wolves value Jimmy Butler more than Jared Sullinger.   Not that Butler is necessarily more valuable, just that Minnesota might think so.

From their perspective, they may think that a defensive-oriented PF may be a better fit next to Pekovic.  You need at least one of your bigs to be a rim protector.  Pekovic isn't and Sullinger won't be, but Gibson is.  They may also be less excited about picks, given how bad they have been at drafting.

So, Minnesota may believe that Butler is the better young player and that Gibson and Mirotic are good enough to make up the difference between the picks the Bulls can offer and the picks the Celtics can offer.

Sullinger's PER is better then both Gibson and Butler, both of whom have far more experience in NBA then Sully. He is younger then both and has better stats then both and any NBA fan in the world could tell you that Sully has better potential then both.

Jimmy Butler's inconsistent play has me wondering who is the better prospect between him and Sullinger at this point, but to play devils' advocate, you ought to look at win shares:

Player                   WS   WS/48
Jimmy Butler   15.2   0.143
Taj Gibson   23.4   0.124
Jared Sullinger   6.6   0.108

do we even know if the Bulls made an offer? other than speculation of what they "could" offer as per the Macmullen article? Also, that management is cheap

I would certainly value win shares/ws per 48 over PER.

I wonder what the synergy numbers for offense and defense look like for each player.

Win Shares are going to be slated towards teams that actually, you know, win games, though.

Well sure, but PER can be inflated simply due to playing on a bad team. Someone has to shoot the ball. Lots of guys put up good numbers on bad teams.

Oh, yeah, I would never advocate for PER
