Odds of Flip Saunders The GM trading Flip Saunders The Coach's best player seem low, but Wolves are odd enough that anything is possible.

I never thought I would be this interested in what's going on with Minny..lol

This week he said would wait until they got a new coach to sell Love on a vision....I guess he's the vision.

Surprised he came back. Said a few times that he wouldn't coach the team.

Happy to see Flip Saunders back though. I like the offenses that he built in Minnesota and Detroit. They were nice to watch. Good to have him back coaching again.

Not a top drawer coach but a solid middle of the pack one.

Certainly makes it easier to sell Love on a unified vision and direction for the club when the head coach is also the GM. In Parcellian terms, Flip's the chef, AND he's buying the groceries.

Question still remains: will Love like what's on the menu?

Poor TWolves fans, they just seem forever hopeless as an organization.

Flip is going to totally botch the "Love" situation, and leave Minny in even worse shape. Never really thought he was that good of a coach during the KG era, and don't see any reason it will work out better this time around.

I don't think Flip becoming coach has any impact on K-Love staying or leaving. The decision has been made. Love is gone. No coach is changing his mind. Only a top class player arriving would be enough to make him reconsider at this point.

Words aren't enough. Only actions are.

Our friends at Canis Hoopus seem miserable over the news. I don't think they see this as a selling point.

Yep, that's the main question.

And this was the other way I was looking at it. No one is interested in taking the job until the Love situation is resolved, and so Flip is taking it on himself to move the team into the post-Love era.

So does this mean we can get on with the trade now?
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Hmmm..this seems a little more telling

The Rubio camp is very excited w/ Flip. Had little interest in Joerger, a defensive-minded coach. Rubio contract talks begin soon. #twolves

He may know that Love is out the door, so they need to make sure that they can easily transition into the Rubio era.

I wonder if they figured that no coach would change Love's choice or not. Lets get this over with.

Agreed. Allegedly, Rubio and has camp are very happy with the news and Rubio is eligible for an extension this offseason. Maybe a preemptive move to transition to the Rubio era.
