Rondo doesn't really seem like the type of person to try to convince anyone unless he personally is their best friend, or knows them extremely well.

Rondo let the city and the people speak for themselves. If Love is adamant about joining BOS, then all he has to do is see the city for himself, and how much tradition and pride we take in following our sports team.

I think Rondo understands you need talent to get better and he'll actively recruit to make the team better. Rondo was pretty active in recruiting Courtney Lee here and I didn't get the impression they were good friends already.

Even so, he's not going to admit to recruiting Kevin Love publicly. That's basically asking for tampering charges.
Players can't tamper, a team could make an accusation I suppose but those rules are for the front office staff and GMs.

quoted for emphasis.

From Larry Coon:

Quote
108. What is tampering?

Tampering is when a player or team directly or indirectly entices, induces or persuades anybody (player, general manager, etc.) who is under contract with another team in order to negotiate for their services.

Quote
After Will Perdue left San Antonio in the 1999 offseason to sign with Chicago, he commented to the press about the possibility of the Bulls signing Tim Duncan and/or Grant Hill in 2000. The league considered this to be tampering, and issued Perdue a warning.
'

From David Stern:

Quote
"What we told the owners was that the three players are totally, as our system has evolved, within their rights to talk to each other," Commissioner David Stern said after the meeting, which was held here in conjunction with the N.B.A. summer league.

Players on different teams who discuss the idea of someday playing together "is not tampering or collusion that is prohibited," Stern said.

 ;)

I'm just saying tampering can be done by players.  Rondo's no idiot, so he wouldn't say something to get himself in trouble.  But if he said "I told him to make certain he gets traded to the Celtics", I'm sure a complaint would be made.

#Celtics Rajon Rondo on Kevin Love: He's going to help on the glass, obviously ... But this is all speculation. Nothing's set in stone.

Asked about Love, Rondo stoked the fire a bit: "We could also be talking about Melo." Well played, Mr. Rondo.

Love and Melo just seem like a given.  We HAVE to get these two.  I got my fingers crossed

How do we get Melo if we trade for Love? We don't have cap space or assets left, or am I wrong?

Put 'Melo and the 4, Love at the 5, forget about defense and shoot all the threes.

We could be Houston East, but with better shooting.

We'd still have picks and assets left.  Why are people thinking Danny would spend every single pick and assets that we have on Love?  We'd also have cap space.

Nowhere near enough cap space (if any).

Unless the Knicks are willing to take back Wallace, or a S&T Humphries as the salary ballast in a deal, I don't see it happening.

That's what I thought. So our only chance would be if Phil Jackson of all people would trade Melo within his division to the celtics with minimal return.

It would depend of course on what ended up getting sent to Minny for Love.  If we don't send waiveable contracts (like Bogans), Green + Bogans + Johnson + Babb will be able to take back approx $20 million in salary, and enough for Melo.  Assuming that some of the players sent out like Bass and Green are perceived to have value, we should have the draft picks do get it done.  Doubt to leaves room for Asik, however, if you think that's important.  We'd certainly have room unde the hard cap of $81 million to fit everything in without sending out someone like Wallace.

Rondo if you want to win a championship please play some defense. Dont pound the ball.

I think the Rondo pounds the ball meme has been pounded into the court enough itself.

No. He needs to be accountable.

Given that this thread is about his press conference your response is off-topic.

Beyond that, do you think he reads Celticsblog? Because chiming in with your opinion about Rondo in this thread makes it seem like you do.

Dude, it's a Kevin Love thread.  There are more than enough anti-Rondo threads to bring back to life.

If Kevin Love and Carmelo Anthony are willing to play with Rondo, or better yet, want to play with Rondo, I'm going to presume that they have little issue with his reputation for "pounding the ball."  I don't think it keeps anyone up at nights, other than about a dozen Celticsblog posters and one or two Boston sports media personalities.  It's the offseason.  Let it go for a bit.

I suppose we could turn this into a three-way deal where Boston gets Melo, Knicks get Lopez/Green/2015 1st, and Nets get expirings/2016 NJ 1st.

I realize that NYK also has Chandler, but I would be happy to bring him to Boston, too.
