If the Celtics draft a small forward to play behind Green, Gordon for example, is it reasonable to buy him out?  Let's say offer him 12-15 million giving him the opportunity to find a better situation and still make most of his money.  The Celtics save some money and free themselves of a headache.  I'm not sure, but I think that would free up the savings on the cap.

It is not reasonable, because the CBA won't allow this to happen.  He would count $4 million against the cap for each of the next five years to do so.  We were certainly given at least one extra draft pick from Brookyln for taking him on.  We can bite the bullet for at least this year, and sort it out next year when he's an expiring and easier to move.
